I really want to go for it but am afraid of the side effects if it may have. Someone told me that they are not good for health for normal people. Please read the following review: Increasing calories? Don’t worry The new Sugar Free Natura offers freedom from harmful calories and sugar-related health problems, finds out Times Food Processing Journal Sugar Free, the market leader in the sugar substitutes category has launched a new product, 'Sugar Free Natura,' a zero calorie sucralose based sweetener under their array of sugar substitutes. Sugar Free Natura is a zero calorie Sucralose based sweetener derived from sugar. Sugar Free Natura is targeted towards all health and fitness conscious people who want to control their calorie intake to stay fit. It offers people a way to manage calories without sacrificing taste, as it has no calories. It also helps to avoid risk of cholesterol, excess weight, diabetes and other health and lifestyle disorders. http://www.etfoodprocessing.com/feb_mar06/new_avenues.htm What do you have to say about it. Are these sweetners/sugar free tabs good for health. Can we use them as a replacement of normal sugar in our foods? If any one of you take that or is aware of it, please help me. Thanks a lot!

If any new food product, you could always have an adverse reaction. If you are going to try such a product, I would not use a lot until you know you won't have a reaction. As for long term side effects, I don't believe the vast majority of alternative sweeteners have been tested long enough to know 100% if they are harmful or not. You really are better off not putting anything artificial in your body. In my opinion, you should just use sugar and find some place else to cut calories that would be more beneficial to your overall health (use skim milk instead of 2% or whole milk). For the average person, using or not using sugar really makes very little difference if you do not change your overall diet.

Thanks for your suggestions! I would like to know here whether cutting off sugar at some places as in milk, shakes and all and replacing it with the tabs would help or not.

I am sure it will help to an extent, but you have to make the change over you entire diet for it to really work good. For example, you have 3 cups of coffee a day with whole milk normally you add one teaspoon of sugar but you replace it with a sweetener. Yes that will cut down on the calories, but you would see a bigger difference if you dropped the milk altogether or used skim (non-fat) milk and kept the sugar.

Great points above me that we really don't know the long term effects of all these sugar free products. I believe your best bet is to just reduce your overall sugar intake. It's really not bad to have a little sugar in the diet. try to make your carbohydrate sources be from fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains. Once you have less sugar in your diet you start missing it less and less. Hope that helps. Sarah Brown www.sarahpersonaltraining.com
