Hey all--
I just wanted to remind everyone to remember to go over firework safety with your kids before they go out to pop the fireworks for the 4th of July! I've seen and heard about some aweful accidents with fireworks. Kids seem to think they are invincible and it can't happen to them. Be sure to supervise kids of any age when setting off fireworks. I see kids in our neighborhood without any supervision and these are the kids that end up getting hurt or doing something stupid by destroying neighbor's mailboxes or other property.
Have a safe 4th of July!

Thanks dear also think people should be reminded that alchol and fireworks don't mix well either - I've seen too many drunks handling fireworks (adults) and causing injuries to themselves or others.

I didn't see it personally but it happened to a lady I worked with. Her husband and some friends were setting off fireworks 'for the kids'. They'd had too much to drink and one of the things blew up and flew into a group of kids. Would have been better off having the kids do the fireworks :(

My great niece who is fourteen reports that there is now a hole in the wall of our park band shell. She did not do it, and was not there when it was done. That is so sad, as that means that it was deliberate vandalism. I do not think it is a large hole, but the idea is sad, anyway. It also was hazardous as concrete particles could get in the perpetrators eyes. Kids or adults just do not think about the consequences of the things that they choose to do. I got some pretty good burns from burnt out sparklers as a kid, it seems like every year.I am wishing everyone a safe and fun Fourth.

On the news last night there was a story about a woman here in Michigan who had bought some sort of illegal fireworks. The fireworks had gone off in her face and exploded repeatedly, killing her.
