Migraines. Do you suffer from them?

I hate to be such a whiny baby, but I have had a horrible migraine for the past three days. I woke up with it Tuesday morning, and it hasn't stopped. I feel that there's a band squeezing the area just above my eyebrows. I thought it might just be because I'm on the computer a lot, but I stopped myLotting to give my ache a break but no use. What about you, fellow myLotters? Any one out there who gets migraines or any kind of headache from time to time? How do you deal with it? Does it wreck your day? Do you take medication for it? Please share... :-{

I wish I were allowed to take Gatorade! I like the flavours but I am diabetic, so the doctor makes me stick to water. But thanks so much for the tip, much appreciated. Maybe I'll get a bottle just in case, cause when I feel horrible, I'll try it...thanks again! :-}

When I get a migraine, I take Excederin Migraine and sleep. I find that sleeping helps more than anything else. The pain medicine just takes the edge off so that I can go to sleep and don't get to feeling sick to my stomach.

Hi, there, my darling! I've just been to my ophthalmologist this past Tuesday. My eyes are a major factor, I think. My prescription is not right anymore, but my doctor is waiting for my cataracts to be of a size big enough for surgery, so until then, she wants me to wait! I have glaucoma too, so the pressure from that adds to the misery. Getting old sucks, but being diabetic sucks even more! Thanks for the hugs and here's a lot for you! {{{{*}}}} Great to have you back!

I have had migraines but I don't get them often. I hope it eases off for you soon. I know they can get bad. I've had them before to where they have almost made me throw up and I can't stand to see light at all. Take some Tylenol rapid release or some excederin migraine (I think that's what it's called) and see if that will help any. Do you get them often? If so, you might want to go to the doctor and see if he can prescribe you something for when you get them.

I've just taken a couple of extra strength Tylenols but I guess it will take a few minutes before they work. I have had migraines since I could remember (my mother always blamed my bad eyesight)and I have learned to live with them. Thank you so much for your response, I am grateful for the suggestions. :-}

I do get migraines but not all the time. I have come to realise that I get migraines only when I am stressed out or when I am angry. The longest it ever last is few days continually. I would apply ice on my forehead. It works at times. However, most of the times, it works after I had a long long sleep. I do not believe in taking medicine to stop the pain.

The ice pack on the head is a great idea. I think I'll try that. Yeah, I try to avoid the medicine route, unless I'm really desperate. Thanks so much for your advice. God bless! :-}

Paracetamol is aspirin, right? I wonder if that will conflict with my stroke meds, because I am on blood thinners and aspirin thins the blood. I will ask my doctor. Thanks for your response. God bless. :-}

i have migraines too and it's mainly due to stress because they usually strike when i'm caught up in work. sometimes it's due to the sudden shift in temperature. like if i stay in a really warm place and then move off to an area with the a/c blasting then it would really strike. but the doctor's advice was to avoid these stressors and minimize intake of chocolate, nuts, chips, too much sodium.

The temperature change is a major factor, I think. We had such hot weather up here in Toronto for several days, and I had a feeling the weather was going to change because the hammering in my brows and temples told me so. Sure enough, we had thundershowers all day yesterday. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated! :-}

i also experience this, but not so frequent. It is usually triggered when I'm tired and stressed, and spent long time watching TV, or on a computer. I usually lie down in a dark and quiet room and get some sleep. As soon as I get a sound sleep, i'm relived. I guess you need to see your doctor if you frequently experience this...Ow, by the way, chocollates trigger migraine.So, if you love them, better give them up!hehhe...here's a link you can seach to know more about migraine.

I AM a chocoholic, and I know that my weakness is my downfall. However: I did not have chocolates this time, I think it might be a food allergy. I agree that stress plays a big role as well, because it started out as a tight tension ache in the back of the head. Thanks for the advice I'll try to follow it ("try" is the operative word here--chocolates are really tempting! LOL) :-}

I feel so sorry for you. I know a few people would just can't do anything at all when they have a migrane attack. I used to get really bad headaches where if you bend over you feel like you head is going to fall off you neck. They were so aweful. But I quit smoking and don't get near the headaches I used to get. So I am very luck that way. I find the beat thing that worked for me was a cold cloth on my eyes and lay down. I get used to pills so they kinda lose their effect over time. Good Luck! ;)

I know what you mean about the pills losing their effect over time. I guess we just have to grin and bear it! I am glad that you quit smoking, because it does make a big difference with the intensity of the migraines. I used to smoke and the migraines I had then were really bad I had to take time off work. Thanks so much for the good wishes! All the best...:-}

I am a firm believer in natural medicine as well. You are so lucky to be migraine-free for three years. That is awesome! Thanks for the tip. God bless. :-}

Hi there, Yes I too suffer from Migraine, not very often but when I suffer I suffer like hell. But of late, I've been taking help of Aromatherapy to deal with it and the results were pretty decent. You can use any of these aromatherapy oils but DO NOT FORGET TO MIX IT WITH CARRIER OIL. 1. Lavender 2. Peppermint 3. Eucalyptus I use lavender coz I like the smell and its really soothin.

Last night, the Tylenols took some time to work, so I had a warm bath and put 2 capfuls of the soothing baby bath by Johnson and Johnson. It has lavender and chamomile and it really helped a lot. I was able to relax and got some sleep. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated! :-}
