Why is my cat happier in the laundry room?

Last night my cat kept screaming, so I had to put him into the laundry room by himself. And, the minute he got into the room by himself, he shut his mouth and didn't meow anymore. Why would a cat want to be in a laundry room by himself? Why wouldn't he want to be with the rest of his family?

Cats can be sometimes like people..He maybe just wanted to be alone by himself for a while...If he is happy I wouldnt worry.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind and give him some space once in a while. He is something of a loner.

That may be a little odd. I don't know what was going on in your house hold when he ended up screaming. However, I do know that animals can also sometimes suffer fromm anxiety, sometimes for no reason. Maybe the laundry room is his "comfort zone". Also, he might have a few furry friends he likes to visit that you may not want to think about. (mice) kidding, of course! heh

Cats are loners by nature and many times they meow or call just because. I have a cat that goes to the basement and a few minutes later she is meowing in the most annoying manner...not for attention she is simply singing. Its what they do. Also, being that they are loners by nature many times they can feel stressed out and want to be alone to settle down.

My skinny cat loves going downstairs to the basement/laundry room; I think it's because it's darker and cooler, and a change of environment from the usual. Of course, as other people have said, cats sometimes want to be left alone. Also, I figure that, as nocturnal creatures, cats prefer darker places, therefore the basement would an ideal sleeping spot.

I guess it would depend on what is in the laudry room. Is there a temperature difference in the room. Maybe he has found some nice soft fabric to sleep on. Or...maybe he has found a new place to pee...sorry :) cheers,

That's just the way cats are. When they want to be alone they let you know by meowing loudly. Ours does it when she wants out, her bowl in empty and she wnats to eat.

I think your cat likes to see rotate things:) Maybe the laundry room is new for it.
