We have a beagle.Of course, she sheds. We are constantly cleaning, but it seems to always be there. The dog does not get on the furniture. But still there is hair showing up on the floor. It's not terrible, but it just bugs me. How do people keep the dog hair in the house under control?

great discussion! i am in your boat too! i have a black lab that sheds sooooooooooooooooooo bad! we got microfiber furniture and it sticks to it bad, static. Ive been reading up on what to do because im at the end of my rope with this hair. One thing ive read is to brush your dog ALOT and try and get that undercoat off. And another thing that i have tried is called "static guard". I spray it on the furniture and carpet and let it sit for a short time and then vacuum it up. On the furniture, i got this rubber brush thing and it really works well with the static guard to brush the hair up on the furniture. Hope that helps! Im still trying to figure out other things as well!

I'm not sure how to help unless it's to vacuum every day. I sure wish my sister could figure out something to do. She and her husband have 3 dogs and they all shed real bad. They've just moved into a new house and it already smells like the dogs. The old house had all hardwood floors and there was always piles of dog hair along the walls and on the stairs. It was especially bad for me and my sons as we are very allergic to dogs. I can't spend more than a half hour there without my symptoms starting.

Well I can tell you my current plan for reduceing excess pet hair in my home. I have a large dog and a long haired cat. We have just bought a house and will be moving into it within the next month. We have had a major problem with pet hair everywhere, especially with the addition of our cat. My plan to combat this is that I am have all vinyl and tile flooring put down in my house, no carpets, just smooth floors and rugs where necessary. This will reduce the amount of pet hair and dander that sticks to the floors, carpets hold this stuff in them. Also I plan to buy one of those air cleaners with the rinsable Hepa filter. I figure with the combination of nothin for the hair to really cling to, and the hepa filter filtering the air, that all it should take is a quick once over the floors each day with the vacuum and I should be able to jeep the pet hair in our air to an absolute minimum.
