How do you dress in church?

Our church is very casual, which I totally agree with.I dress usually in nice jeans, black or beige jeans or a casual dress.God does not care what you wear when you pray or study his word.Look at Paul,he was in prison. What about all the prisoners saved in jail, homeless people saved wearing street clothes that probably have never been washed.People saved wearing hospital gown's.People who wear fancy dresses and fancy suits to church only show that you have more money then some others.Does not necessarily mean they are better believers then the other people who are wearing jeans. If you have a nice dress or suit, great you should wear it if that's what you want to.

I dress up on Sundays to meet with the Lord in worship and fellowship with other believers. I think it's a shame that people have become so casual that we no longer care to get dressed up when we go anywhere, never mind to church. It's not to show off, I think it is important to look your best at least in your house of worship. God doesn't care what you wear, that's true, but you should care. I do get casual on Wednesday night Bible study but on the day of worship and fellowship, I wear a nice dress or dressy slacks. I feel better and I believe it's respect to God.

Like myself some people cannot afford to dress up.Some of the churches I called at this town Iam thinking about moving to do not allow woman to wear slacks. You must wear a dress or skirt.Men must have a tie.

If a dress code is a requirement at a particular church, they will also be very strict in their doctrine and you may not be comfortable there at all. I'm sure you can find a Bible-preaching church where the people will love you for who you are, not for what you are wearing. May the Lord bless you in your search.

I don't attend church anymore, but when I was growing up, I always asked my mom why we had to dress up for church. Our family was very strict about this, we couldn't wear jeans or shorts to church pretty much at all. My mom said that we had to dress up to show respect for God. I do agree with you, though. If I did still attend church, I would wear whatever I was comfortable wearing.

i think the best way to go to church is just every day dress, which for me that is just casual, like when i go to town i wear a good top and jeans and i cant afford to get all dressed up. so id ont expect others to. and i agree with you about the ".People who wear fancy dresses and fancy suits to church only show that you have more money then some others"

Usually on Sunday mornings I wear a dress and then for Sunday/Wednesday evenings, i wear pants and a nice shirt. My mom raised me to wear a dress on Sunday mornings. Some people at my church though, wear blue jeans to church (women) which is totally fine. We arent there to judge each other on how we are dressed, we are there to praise the Lord! =] God Bless!

I wear a dress to church every Sunday. I'm LDS and we belive that dressing that way shows respect to our Lord. However if someone were to show up wearing pants they would not be turned away.

NO! God does not care what you wear! He will listen to your prayers no matter where you are, what you look like, how much you have sinned and whatever you choose to wear! We choose to come to the house of the lord to become closer to him as we ask for forgiveness, he is our father and will never deny us the opportunity to speak to him reguardless if we are in rags or name brand clothing! With that said, I dress in whatever makes me comfortable that day. There are times when the rain continued to fall the whole morning and I would wear only jeans and a nice blouse, the regular Sundays that I go only to attend mass, I would wear slacks and a blouse and for the days when I am at church for a special occasion such as baptism or a wedding, I would wear a dress or skirt. (Only on special occasions!...lol) Although it sounds like I have many cloths, in reality is I am a single mom who struggles everyday to make ends meet and all the three outfits that I mentioned are basically all I have in the closet, except for many house cloths…lol.. Nonetheless, I know that I might not dress in the fancy clothing that others do to church, but I am sure that God is looking down on me with pride, simply because I continue to show my faith in him! My faith lie within my soul and my choice of clothing does not place any reflection on the amount of my beliefs!

So very true. I generally wear jeans and a nice top. On occassion when I do interpretive dance routine with a group of women for the church, I will wear something nicer. We usually wear a same color top and black pants.

I dress casual usually at church too. Sometimes I wear jeans. I often wear pants. Some other ladies do too and some dress more formal. I believe like you, that it's not about the clothes. I would hate to think that kept people out of church.

I know.God wants everyone to be believers and worship. It should not matter if you are rich or poor.Or if you are dressed a certain way.Everyone should be welcome at church.God does not turn anyone away, neither should the people.

That is very true about the way you dress. God sees you at home in your normal clothes. I don't go to church as often as I should because it is usally to hot to me having ms but I still pray and read my bible. When I did go I dressed nice but I didn't go all out in the finest clothes but I dressed the best that I could.

God sees you in the shower,He see's you in pajama's,work clothes, jogging clothes, work in the yard and around the house "junky" clothes. And God knows everything that is going on,He knows why you do not go to church all the time, but he also hears your prayers. My cousin and I were talking and we used to say that god doesn't care if you are in your closet praying, lol.

Yes and you are very right. I get together with my friends sometimes in normal clothes and read bible verses and then pray.

I usually wear casual clothes but nothing 'too exposed'. I think tube tops and ultra mini shorts or skirts would be exposing too much skin and can be immodest in the house of God. This is a holy and religious place after all, and I wouldn't want to be disrespectful. Besides, I wouldn't want to distract the guys. If it's a formal occasion or I'm going straight to church from a formal function, then I might be dressed in a formal attire.

I don't go to church myself, but when I did In Home Care, I would take my consumers and I would just dress casual.I am not there to impress anyone...I actually enjoyed going with them, but find myself not wanting to go alone..

Sometimes I wear jeans or slacks and sometimes skirts. It just depends on how I feel that day. God doesn't care what you wear. He does care if you are learning and worshiping in church, which you can't do when you are uncomfortable and fidgeting with your skirt hem through the whole service. People are the only ones who pay attention to what you are wearing. I have a rule: I try to please God first, my husband second, and nobody else counts because they are not my judge.

Exactly. It is always best to be comfortable and please God by worshiping.not to please those people around you.You put it exactly right.Good for you and thank you for your words.

I guess it all depends on how you wish to present yourself to the lord, Yes I have money but I do not dress the way I do simply to rub it in others faces, I love the lord so much that I want to look my best in his presents.

Well said GOD doesn't care on what you dress in church..........but it's not GOD in flesh around you. I mean consider those people around you.........if you dress in fashion or very attractive the people would always look at you and could not concentrate on their prayer. You could be the center of their attention that could be consider you as "Temptation" because you are grabbing their time and attention. You are now blocking them directly to God it's good if their faith is strong enough what if they are not? So you are now competing to GOD for that matters. Dress in church should be modest, simple since GOD won't say............."my child go home and change your dress, it's simple and ugly". He will be pleased by our devotion not the way we dress. Simple and Modest is the best in church.....not only the devoties who could cought the attention but how about the priest, pastor or the leader of the church?............Be moderate enough cause our Behavior is very important wherever we go.........VALUES is still important!

Yes,I would never wear something like a short skirt to church,or anywhere for that matter. But,if people are really faithful to God and why they are there, then they will not pay attention to any "temptations" or anyone else's clothes.

I dress up when I go to church. That is only for me though, God has given me the clothes and time, it is only right I honor Him by going to His Church wearing the best I can. I Know that it doesn't matter what you wear though. When my kids were babies, I wore whatever was easiest. It depends on the circumstances you are in at the moment.

i dress as best as I can. I don't really have much money and time to wear fancy one. In the morning, i still gotta help my two little children get ready too. Sometimes I wear jeans, or slacks with nice tops. As long as it cleans, and don't rip.

Depends. Smart casual most of the time (ie. t-shirt, jacket and jeans). But when its my turn playing the bass, I'll be in something better like shirt and pants or jeans. Not once did I wore a suit to church. I think just have to wear something appropriate coz it shows you respect God, yourself and others. Obviously not in your basketball attire.
