What is the best thing you have ever found at a yard sale?

For us it has to be our 1991 Mercury Capri convertible. We got it for $900. This car was a peach to begin with. We did go ahead and get it a new top. It had a black top that was in less than perfect shape. We put a white top on it. It looks sharp. Hubby uses his waterless car wash products to keep it that way. His car stuff that he uses and sells is at http://www.freewebs.com/bobscargoods. I really like the Ultra Ion, it is a protectant that keeps my van windows shedding water better than Rainex ever did.

This happened to a friend of mine, she bought a TV that was quite new, but was told it did not work, it was a 30 inch screen. Her husband felt he could fix it. She paid $20. She got home, realized it did not fit in the entertainment center, she went back and bought the entertainment center for $30. She got it home, found the missing remote for the TV. Pressed a button on the remote and the TV worked. This gets better, she fell in love with an old roll top desk that they had when went back for the entertainment center, but did not have room for it in the car. She called the people, they still had the desk. SHe paid $20 for it. When she went to refinish it, she found a drawer that was sealed shut. It was full of collectible post cards between 50 and 80 years old. She sold them for $3000 dollars.

I best thing I found at a yard sale was a great wingbacked chair for $15. It wasn't beautiful but it was very well made chair and quite comfortable. Even though I no longer have it, it served it's purpose well in my art studio during its time with us.

When you buy things that economically then it is easy to let them move on when it is time.

Why you lucky dawg you. I have always wanted a convertible. We are in the market for a decent used car. So far we haven't been very successful. Most we ever find at tag sales aren't worth much. But I get tickled pink when I find something that is a steal! I bought a nearly new griddle for $3, a 30 gallon fish tank with all the gadgets for $15 (the guy wanted $20).

I am late getting back to you. It is fun to have the convertible, and it is very economical. It is, however a very small car.

Usually by the time I am ready to sell something, or get rid of it, it is just about worthless to anyone else. I just donate anything rather than have a sale myself.

I found a large box of 50's comics that were later worth hundreds of dollars, I also look for precious moments figurines and I end up with a lot of them.

would you believe pal I have never ben to a yard sale , I have heard of them and it seems like a great idea to me , We have car boot sales not far from us and I have only ever been to one of them , I was always going to take all of Ross extra CD's and DVD's and sell them off but never got round to it , He took boxes full to a local hospital lately and they really appreciated them there . I hope Scotland starts to have yard or garage sales I would love that and not have to drive or walk far to them xxxx

I am not sure what is the best thing I have found at yard sales, but my husband & I sure love them. When I bought my holiday house at Pennehsaw, I furnished it entirely with items from yard sales. My husband has bought cheap pasint, enough to paint th whole of the kids bedrooms. We have bought great second hand books, games & folding chairs. Even pot plants. Hubby buys really cheap kjids bikes & does them up. Yard sales are great.

I found a really nice tooled leather purse at a yard sale for .50 and sold it on Eaby for about $50. I also found a beautiful crocheted comforter like my grandma would have made, and paid $2 for it.

I would have to say that the best find for us was my girls piano. Our house burned 6 years ago and they lost their piano and their keyboard. We didn't have enough insurance to recover everything so the piano wasn't a priority. One day at a garage sale, my youngest fell in love with this old upright piano, with beautiful scroll work. However, a dog had been using it for a chew toy and it had some damage to the legs. The man was asking $250 for it, because it is an antique. When I tried to explain to Lauren that we simply couldn't afford that, he struck up a conversation with my talkative child. Upon finding out that she had lost her piano in a fire, he asked for my husband's work number. That night, this man and his son delivered the piano to my girls with a big red bow on it and said Merry Christmas in April.

I once bought a box of jusk because I wanted a child's book in it and when I was looking through the box I found the lid part of a candy bar display box that was advertizing Hop Along Cassidy. On a dare I put it on ebay with .01 starting bid and it sold for $397.23. It was a good sale because I bought the whole box of stuff for $1.00 and sold a number of collectibles from it.

I need to go through some of the stuff I have. I have known people who made enough doing that to take the place of a regular job.

I think it would be an entertainment center. We went to a well off neighborhood and found an entertainment center for 20 dollars. I needed one because I was moving and didn't have anything and I didn't want it to sit on the floor. It is really nice and I feel pretty good for just paying twenty dollars.

I can't say as I have ever found any HUGE steals at garage sales as some have mentioned here but I do love to go garage saling to see what kind of bargains I can find. I mean you can find CD's in perfect condition for a quarter. Books for A quarter. DVD's for $1.00. Great Condition Jeans for $2.00. If the person has their stuff priced right there are lots of bargains you can find. I'm a cashier working a minimum wage job. So I love my yard sales!
