which bent of mind do you have-- optimistic or pessimistic? Not sure? Then its high time you take notice. It makes so much of a difference in our lives.
I feel that optimism makes you live and achieve to the fullest.
An optimist always sees the brighter side and is fun to be with.
Are you an optimist?
what suggestion would you like to give to a person who is not an optimist,to help him/her overcome his pessimism?

Well... I am a pessimist... so I am looking forward to your suggestions.
There is not much left in this life to be optimist about. Burying your head in the sand while pretending that life is wonderful is one way to be optimist I guess. But that don't make the reality go away. And when you have a major catastrophe... you act shock and surprise... because you did not see it coming. How could you while your head was in the sand?
Optimism is a bit like expectations. You expect that everything will go smootly and according to your plan. That would be fine is the plan only depended of you and you were in control. But you are not because there is always someone outhere ready to throw a spanner in your well organise plan.
So I thing you are wrong in your assumption that optimist people are happier than pessimists. Just because you are pessimist does not mean that you are not trying to achieve. You just do it more cautiously to prevent desappointments.
The optimist surge ahead as long as everything goes well. But more often than not... there will be one stage where he will fall down because he did not see it coming... and that will be the end of his optimism. Once burn... twice shy.
The pessimist on the other hand has something to be happy about everytime something works beyond his expectations. And he rarely falls down because he is cautious to climb up safely and securely.

Yes, it's better to be a pessimist. An optimist is often disapointed when things don't turn out as well as expected. But the pessimist is never disapointed because things turn out just as bad as he thought they would (or even better, worse :-)) and is pleasantly surprised when things turn out better than expected. The pessimist expects plan A to go belly up, so he always has a plan B to fall back on and the "real" pessimist has a plan C as well:-)

Poonam, Hi!
How are you?
I can say that I am an 'optimist' and I firmly believe that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I live my life optimistically and I expect that God will bring happiness for me and my family and for my dear friends too.
What about you? Are you an optimistic?
Deepak
Have a Nice Day!

That's funny... because when you look at the discussions of religious people on this forum... they seem to have more problems than you can poke a stick at. But I guess that's because God likes those he loves to suffer like he did.

I am an optimist for sure and it just makes life so much better. I understand that bad things happen from time to time and it would be important to get life going without getting obsessed on the bad things. I have a friend who worries about everything and complains about everything that happens to her and to be honest I find her quite annoying to be with. I think she only focuses on the sad things and misses out all the good fun in life. I try to loosen her up but it's no use, I think it's really in our blood that how we think and accept challenges in life.

I am an optimist with a pessimistic trying to sneak out at times, most of the time I always look at the brighter side of life, but sometimes I revert back to the ways I was brought up with a very pessimistic Mother.
