Leadership Is Influence

Do you recognize how much influence teachers have over their students? As a teacher there have been many times when I have been just blown away by the impact that students have made me realize that I have over them. It makes me shudder sometimes to think what power lies in my hand and that I will be held responsible for what they do as they see my example. My actions speak so much loudder than my words. Walk into a group, the real leader is not always the one with the title but the one with the followers. Dr. John C. Maxwell, leadership guru says that if you are leading and no one is following then you are simply taking a walk.

yes, i should agree with that leadership is influence, cos if you look at great leaders in Africa they have really influence black race with their never say die attitude to oppression of the colonial leaders. and it has really been working good.

School/Teacher - School Teacher & Student
Yes, it's true that teachers have a great influence over our children. What I'm happy to hear is the fact that you are aware of just how important your job truly is. I have come across many teachers that are anything but qualified, & it's appalling. I think this is why some parents opt to home school their children.

Teachers many times are the only possitive adult in many of their students lives. They have the ablility to teach more then just accademics to their students. Teachers that have the ability to reach their students and influenc them are remembered by their students the rest of their lives. However, there are some teachers that have just to opposite effect. As a teacher I try to remember that you never know what long term enfuence you will have on a student so I always try to make sure that the students I work with know that I care and want them to try their best.

I'll never forget how in my early teaching career, I overheard some of my young students playing school. I was shocked at how I sounded to them! I've been ultra-conscious ever since and try to never say or do anything that will be detrimental to anyone. The power is scary.
