Hello Friends! How often do you go to Temples/Church/...religious places? I go to temples very rarely, may be once in a month, once in months or sometimes even only 2-3 times in a year. Actually I love praying at home & I believe God is everywhere, it doesn't matter you pray at home or temples, praying from heart is neccessary. What about you? Vani ^_^

I agree that you can pray anywhere, and at anytime, but I also believe that God has a message for you that is delivered in corporate worship. The religious leader is inspired by God, the music is given by God, and your friends help build you up in the faith when you meet together. I like to go to church at least once a week. Even in the church, even in the group, you still need to be praying from the heart.

I'm sorry your temple is that way. I believe that church should be a place of fellowship as well as worship. In The Purpose-Driven Life, Rick Warren names five purposes: 1) worship 2) fellowship 3) discipleship 4) ministry 5) evangelism Salute!

Thanks for responding! I agree with what you are saying. But the place where am living, there people just go to temples alone, pray alone, offer sweets bought from shop to God & come back to home. So, it doesn't make much difference. Infact praying at home is better. Whereas the place where I used to live before, I used to go to temple quite often, mostly daily. I used to visit Church on Sundays with my best friend...vani^_^

I agree that prayer is important regardless of location, but I don't go to church just to pray. I go for worship and fellowship. According to Rick Warren, these are the first two of five purposes for which God puts us here. I also go to learn. I like the sermon, and having a good pastor with a strong presentation really brings the message home. I also go for music ministry, which is part of worship. I am in the choir and praise team, and I sing offertories on occasion. In fact, I sang a duet with the organist's daughter last week. It was the second duet we've done, and I understand we may be doing many more. The choirmaster asked us if we would be willing to do contemporary duets, because she has lots of those, but almost no classical ones. My background is in classical, but comtemporary is fine with me. And the girl actually prefers contemporary. I was usually playing keyboard to add a warmth to the band, but the church was broken into a month ago, and the keyboard was one of the things that was stolen. :( So I'm singing in the praise team now, and having just as much fun. I'm good at harmonizing, and we have a bass/baritone who can easily hold the foundation, so now we have three parts instead of one. The choirmaster is loving it! :) BTW, involvement is a big help. Commitment brings you back. In answer to your question, I am at the church twice a week. I am there on Sunday mornings for service, and Thursday nights for choir practice.

Mostly i go to temples three to four times a week. I find place of worship is as a solace for all my griefs. I agree to the point of yours that one can pray from anywhere, only faith needed.
