My vow to shelter dogs.

I want to make a vow to the sweet dogs lock in cages, stairing out to the hard world. I will NEVER purchase a dog from a pet store, or a breeder. I will always pick my best friend, who wasn't wanted by someone else, from a shelter, or rescues. Please vow your support to the dogs who sleep on the concrete waiting to go home.

God Blessed me with my best friend, Lola a sweet little shelter dog that always listens, and is always there when I need her! I got to pick her out when my boyfriend left for the Navy, she is what helps me through the worst of times!

I agree with you but some of the animals in the local pet stores are animals from local SPCAs. You may want to ask where the pet store gets its animals before you discount them. Or you can most likely find out at the SPCA if they place dogs in local pet stores. It is a method of moving the dogs to good homes. Some people would not buy adopt an animal from a shelter but would buy one from the pet store. Little do they know....

Hi there lisb! I would if there's a shelter here in our area. If there'll be one in the future, then I'll vow to just adopt dogs from there instead of purchasing one.

Good for you! I prefer to rescue dogs from the shelter (or from being sent there), myself. My current dog we got from someone who didn't realize he was gonna get so big (don't know how, since her parents owned both his mother and father!). And within 6 months he was bigger than their lease allowed for dogs. We were the only people who showed up all week to look at/meet him, and if we hadn't taken him he would have gone to the shelter the next day. Being part pit bull, they wouldn't have adopted him out, they would have put him down.

Bless you for making that vow. I have had dogs that were rescued and some that were given to me. You do know that Pet Smart has cats and dogs that are from shelters available for adoption. You can also check online and in the paper for people that what to give a dog they have away to a good home to keep from sending them to a shelter.

You make it sound like breeders and pet stores are evil and that we don't care what happens to the dogs, all we are looking at is the money! I am spending alot of money to give the dogs I raise the best enviornment, and yes I use cages, but I also spend alot of time with them, they have plenty of outside time not in a cage. I know I can only speak for my self, but I just sold some dogs this week and I was very concerned about who would buy them, because I wanted a good life for them Because they were so sweet. i consider my dogs my friends also, they have brought alot of happiness into my life and i know their puppies will do the same for someone else. If you go to petland they are one of the best puppy stores. They have a very clean facility, the animals are given the best of care. I have been to shelters that are dirty, unkept, the animals are skinny and act like no one loves me; I felt so sorry for them. I wanted to just turn them loose so they could be free. My dogs are always happy to see me and look forwad to going out side.
