If you could live with all expenses paid in a strange city for one year, with no responsibilities just free time on your hands to explore the city........
first of all, would you do it? (assume you can take your family if you like)
next, what city would you choose and why?
I would do it in a heartbeat. Especially taking my family with me. My city choices would be San Francisco, NYC or Montreal in that order.

Sounds fabulous - when can we go? There are loads of places I would love to explore but when you insist on cities that narrows it down a lot! I used to think I would love to spend time in Athens but we spent a few days there about 13 years ago and the pollution was awful so we will scratch that one, I love San Francisco but have already been there so we better scratch that too. I think it would have to be New York because it is vibrant, full of different people and cultures and it also has proper winters and seasons! Yep I definitely think I would choose NY! xxxx

That would be fantastic, I am a total free spirit, I have itchy feet so I can't stay in the same place for too long, I have no ties, I'm single and besides I'm about to move soon anyhow, so yes I am up for it, I am adventurous. I would choose Amsterdam because there is so much to do, so much history, so much nightlife and so much to explore they speak good English there as I've no acumen for learning languages and I just love the Dutch people. I would definitely go on my own because I am very independent, sounds just great so where's the tickets!

Working on those tickets for you, wolfie.
Amsterdam is an exciting choice. An especially good place for a free spirit like yourself. So I am told... I have not been but would love to go someday.

I think this would be an exciting adventure for one year. I would have to choose a city that I want to go to but have not yet visited. A year is a long time so the surrounding area would have to be interesting for me to explore. I would choose Cape Town for I have seen some beautiful photos of Table Mountain, the beaches and the resident wildlife. My second choice would be Vancouver and my third choice would be a capital city of one of the islands in the Pacific Ocean like Port Vila.

If I am given such a choice i.e. all expenses are paid then I am all for it without a second thought, makingpots!. The only condition is that my family should be with me. With them along, I can live anywhere in the world. Without them, even the most beautiful city or place may turn out to be completely dull for me.
I very much love my city of birth. I also like the city I am currently living in. It is in center west of France, very close to Atlantic ocean. It has been declared as the most livable city in Europe, in an article in Times Europe as well as in consecutive surveys in France itself. I would also like to explore many other cities throughout the world. To choose between them is difficult. When my family is around, every city will be worth visiting and living in, from mountainous to beaches to tropical and urban!:-)

Interesting choice. If expences are being paid I guess you could gamble all you wanted.

I would choose Venice, Italy as I have always wanted to visit Italy and have heard it is beautiful in this particular city as well as other parts of Italy. I would like to visit there someday before I die. I would also like to visit all the cities that my closest online friends live in so I can meet them all in person and hang out and have fun.

I would do it without question too. There are a handful of cities that I'd want to do it in. If I the opiton I'd have to choose then. The cities I'd love to do that in are: New Orleans, San Diego, or somewhere in Hawaii.
Wouldn't that be a dream come true? I think that would be amazing experience

Hi makingpots. I could be that adventurous but I doubt hubby would be, lol. I don't really think he'd like to visit any of the places I'd choose, but I'd have a hard time narrowing it down to a single city anyway. I've always dreamed of exploring Greece, Australia and England, but if I had to include hubby, it would be more along the lines of Rockport, TX as hubby would love to spend a year fishing there with no worry about expenses. :)

Oh he does indeed. Fishing can be fun and over 23 years of marriage, I've learned that I'm pretty happy when he's happy. :D

Hey. I would definetly go take my family as well, especially with all expenses paid... The choice of places I'd like to explore or visit would be "Tahiti for the Beaches", "Andes of Peru: Macchu Picchu Mountains and ruins", "Yellowstone National Park: The Grand Canyon"... These places are what I would personally choose to visit, in that order, my family would either have to follow along with it or stay at home and mope lol...

In a minute. Let's see...I've already lived in San Francisco (too cold, too dirty, too much crime...) and I want the ocean and a warm climate. First choice might be Majorca, Spain:

How about Santorini, Greece:

Maybe Arequipa, Peru:

All expenses Paid?? Woah.. I'd jump at that opportunity. For me, It'd be the city of Giza. Ok you can give me the pyramids only, if there are restrictions. Oh i'd love to explore the Pyramids of Giza on a full scale. I'd always wanted to go there and see if I can find some jewels and gold.. lol .. just kidding. I always wanted to know the structure of the Pyramids and how they were built. Go into the Pyramids and have a look at the tombs of the Paraoahs.
