A Day At The Fair

Saturday was a blast for me. I took my daughter & both grandsons to the Anoka County Fair. We saw a thrill ride show that was all right. trick riding of 2008 Mustangs. Car Jumps. The slide of death where a person holds a rope on the back of a car then lets go as they hit an area in flames sliding on their behind which has a steel plate on it for protection. Then the finally was a car jump right into the middle of a truck which embedded the jumping car half way inside the truch through the windshield. Now the thing here is that my daughter & I felt that the fair or the show itself should have stated that this show included some things that may be offensive to some people. Why do you ask we felt this way? Let me explain. It's really funny yet sad as there were many families with kids there. The clown that "entertained" the crowd between stunts is what we have tagged as; "stunt driver/lesbian/foul mouthed woman. She stated that she had a girlfriend in the crowd. Implying she is a lesbian. She also made jokes using many different swear words that my grandsons need not hear. A joke relating to large brea*ts. Another joke referring to the announcer as a horses azz. Unreal I felt. Anyhow I am going to write to the fair board soon stating my feelings/complaints about the show's clown and her actions/ words etc.

Wow--- how odd to have a clown act like that- Clowns are supposed to be for kids—not acting like lesbians and using vulgar language- Ridiculous! It’s not like the show was an adult show- kids like to watch trucks and cars and stunts also- but they need not hear that crap from the clown- I agree- I would write to them- I probably would have told the clown to shush it- and be respectful- glad I wasn’t there!

I doubt very highly that this act will return next year. many people actually walked out during the "act" or whatever they wish to call this so called clown act of theirs. I hope not to see them at the fair next year. If so you bet I won't be in attendance.

Clowns are not suppose to be so offensive to little kids. I agree they should have put a PG ro X rating ont he show so the parents could have made the decision not to take their kids to the show. I am offened just hearing what you describe. Put my name on that letter for being offended. I know you cannot put someone elses name on a letter who was not there but my oh my children do not need to hear about things like that, they lose their innocense earlier and earlier all the time, but not at a county fair.

I wrote to the Anoka County Fair Board of Dierctors. Have yet to get a response. My guess is at the most I may get a semi apology with maybe free passes for 4 next year. I couldn't add your name as you weren't with me. Maybe next year? HAHAHA!!!

That is a sad statement on what some people consider to be funny. It definitely is not family friendly. I wonder how many people will take action. I am sure that there were others offended besides you.

It wasn't even the least bit funny is what makes it even worse. I imagine quite a few were a tad upset about this action/act.

I would of walked out right away and back to the ticket booth to demand my money back. That clown had no right to be so foul-mouthed with all those kids around. And they wonder where our kids pick up the bad language. Our kids look up to adults for guidance and will more likely cuss when they hear us doing it.

It was a free show with general admission to the fair so it's not a matter of getting money back. HAHAHA! I didn't feel it was real tacky but just a little off color is all.

that's really out of line and uncalled for. gone are the days when clowns were just, well, clowns. today they are obviously running out of ideas that they have to hire adult stand up comics.
great that you're taking a stand and giving feedback to the fair board. keep us updated on what they say!
