I have only resently come to realize that so many people don't drink milk and for so many reasons. Do you drink it? If so what kind? Is there a reason you must drink it or just person choice?

I've been avoiding milk for as long as I can remember because of its effect on my stomach. I am lactose intolerant and so milk does not form part of my diet. I have been reading about the health benefits of milk but sadly, it seems that I have to look for substitutes.

there are definitely many substitutes out there.

You can try soya milk as a substitute. I am lactose intolerant as well and so far I'm not having any problems with soya milk. You can also give almond or rice milk a try as well, if they're available in your area.

Soya milk forever! I used to not drink milk at all because the taste makes me sick. I had to convince myself that if I really want to be healthy, I need to drink at least one kind of milk. If I'm lucky to find any rice or almond milk in the shop, i buy it as well.

We are not milk drinkers in our house. We normally don't have milk in the house unless we have ceral or are cooking something that requires milk. If we do have milk in the house it is organic soy milk. The body really does not need milk, there are much better sources of calcium and your body creates enough Vitamin D if you go out in the sun.

Hard cheeses, some nuts, dark leafy green vegetables, canned salmon and sardines, calcium-precipitated tofu, dried beans. Here is a site about why milk is not the best sourceof calcium and it list more alternatives than I could ever list here: http://www.haelan.co.uk/Wholefood-Calcium.shtml

Yes I love milk- It keeps us healthy- Our bones strong ~ I drink regular cow’s milk- well 2% or 1% lowfat- depending on what I happen to pick up- I try to drink a glass a day- but I get it also in yogurt, with my cereal, in ice cream, etc.

I love drinking milk, whether it's fresh or powdered, or soy milk. I make it a habit to drink milk everyday, especially so when I was pregnant with my two kids. I think it's important to drink milk because it contains calcium which is readily absorbed by the body.

Milo is like a chocolate that you put into the milk and stir, it dissolves and is an energy drink. And Tia Maria is a liquier that you mix with milk..

I love just regular old milk form the store. The best brand is Braum's which is a regional dairy. My preference is 1% because you need a little milk fat for your body to use the minerals. After reading this discussion, I will go get a glass. I have not tried rice or goat milk. I CAN drink soy milk but it is just not the same. I did not notice any particular benefit for me, either.

We live in the same region, Gert, we have Braums around here. I don't buy my milk from there but nothing beats their french vanilla ice cream IMO.

I don't like plane milk. Usually I drink tea with milk like all Indians., cow milk only of-course. But I can drink it if some chocolate powder is added to it or when soft drinks and ice creams are put into it. Recently I have been reading a lot about Soya Milk and its benefits. I can drink it plane too , but it is expensive compared to regular milk. so looking at my budget and demand at home, usually I buy only what is acceptable to all. No I never tried any other kind of milk. Doctors say that milk contains lot of vitamins and proteins and it is necessary for our bones so that is why we should drink milk specially children should drink milk regularly.

I do drink milk, i love milk and milk based products such as yoghourts, cheese etc. At home normally we got skimmed milk enriched with calcium, but the one i like the most is whole milk, obviously...yummmy. Some people are allergic to milk, so they must look for other options, and others simply don't like it...but i personally love it.

I drink semi skimmed cows milk honey and I love it! I used to drink ordinary milk but my cholestrol was high so I had to switch for my health! My daughter loves milk but I have to limit her as it brings her out in strange blotches and rashes if she drinks too much! xxxx

We have tried her with different milk but she doesn't really like them! Luckily we manage to limit the amount she drinks now so she very rarely has a reaction - espescially since she has made the link for herself - we very rarely have to tell her she has had enough milk - she realises herself when she has had enough! xxxx

Oh, that is sad that she loves it and it breaks her out. Has she tried soy milk? We drink skim too. I tried whole milk the other day and it was like drinking pure cream after being used to skim milk for so long.

I prefer having cow's milk because since childhood I've been taking it.I find it lighter than other kinds of milk available here. My reason for drinking milk twice daily is beause of its nutritional benefits.
