Do You Eat Burgers?

Burger - That's what I call a burger.

I only eat burgers very occasionally but I'm not a lover of McDonalds. I think their rolls are small, sweet and predominantly white. No... I've tried them and can leave them... so where do I buy my burgers? Uncle Sam's is my favourite. They use wholewheat flour to make their buns, which are quite large buns, and the burgers are equally as big... compared to McDonalds' they are giant-sized. lol. My favourite is the Hawaiian Burger, which is a beefburger with pineapple, a little salad and relish... that's a yummy one. Then I like the Chicken Samwich, which is chicken in batter, with a little salad and mayonnaise. They're really tasty too. So where do you buy your burgers? Do you eat in, or take home? What are your preferences... do you like Chili Burgers, Cheeseburgers, or which flavour?

McDonalds burgers are really small, I agree. I prefer Burger King for its size. lol. However, I would rather get the burger from my kitchen. I can have whatever I fancy - lettuce, cabbage, tomato, cheese, egg and butter mix with peanut butter and with a big fish fillet.

well here in Canada, you can buy big burgers at Mcdonalds. you can buy the "doubles." The double big macs and double quater pounders. so mcdonalds does serve big burgers too. Id rather prefer a home cooked birger though because you can make as big as you want.

That's quite a mixture you have there Why! lol. I prefer the taste of Burger King to McDonalds anyway, and I really dislike the small, sweet bun. Brightest Blessings.

You can buy a Big Mac or a double at our McDonalds in the UK as well, but the buns are still small round the middle... they just pile em high! Brightest Blessings, Warlock.

I love it when my husband makes homemade burgers with the works. The bun, the beef or meat patty, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, cheese whatever he can find in the fridge to put in it. My son loves cheese burgers and even though we do go to MacDonalds at least once a month, he prefers chicken nuggets. I think my husband makes the best hamburgers I have tasted :)

I think your son probably agrees that hubby's are best, because he has chicken nuggets from McDonalds. You are lucky that you have a hubby who can cook so well. Would you like to rent him out for a couple of weeks? lolol. Brightest Blessings.

I like almost every hamburger except McDonalds and prepackaged hamburgers. They are both way to greasy and durn the lettuce and tommato mushy. Now burger king and dairy queen have good hamburgers.

I had a burger last Thursday, when I went out to eat with my clients. The buns are still not whole wheat, but I actually had Applebee's Hawaiian burger. It had a slice of grilled pineapple, and pineapple salsa for the condiments. Also crispy bacon. I liked the fact that I was not locked into fries with that, but had a choice of potato, or fresh fruit, I chose the fruit. The best burgers I get are made at home by my hubby, have cheddar cheese and are served on grilled whole grain bread. McDonald's is good for fast and cheap. But I love their coffee. Better than Starbucks.

Oh yummy, both your hubby's and the Hawaiian burger sound great. I fancy the idea of the bacon in there with the pineapple as well. I hope you enjoyed it... Brightest Blessings.

Talk about burgers, there's a place here in my side of town that I've been craving to try their burgers. They call it mushroom burger, which consists of 60% mushroom and 40% beef. I haven't had the luxury of time to visit and taste it, but I'd be glad to if I can find a free time. I believe it's also big, with varieties to choose from too!;) I also love dressing up my own burger, with lettuce, tomatoes, hot sauce, cheese and mayo..

Oooooooh, that sounds nice. I love mushrooms, and think that would be delicious. When you say hot sauce, do you have chili sauce, salsa or tabasco?

I like McDonalds and Burger King. Most of the time, however, I just fix my own. We have a small farm so beef is plentiful.

Oh that's handy... you can make 100% beef ones. I sometimes make my own, but I don't have them in a bun then; I have them with salad. Brightest Blessings.

I can't blame you for being fussy about your food and your health, Weemam. I think we probably all are, to an extent. I've never used Subway myself but they seem pretty popular. Maybe when I've reached my goal weight, I might try them out! Brightest Blessings, my friend. xxx

No, you'll soon get back onto it. Which reminds me, I made up a recipe for my lunch yesterday, which cost me 3 C Units, but it was really filling. I took half a can of chopped tomatoes, and put them into an oven proof, enamel dish. Then I took a small can of tuna steaks in brine, drained of the brine and added to the tomatoes. Mixed it all together, added some ground sea salt and black pepper, oregano and basil, and stirred again. Then, I sliced enough mushrooms over to cover the top, buttered one slice of weightwatchers bread and cut it into four triangles, which i laid across the length of the dish. Then, I grated on about an ounce of cheese from my allowance and popped it in the oven on 180 C for 20 minutes. That's a fan-assisted oven. Yummy... it was really nice and a change from the routine stuff. Try it, if you like Tuna. :) xxx

Well you have gone and done it again. Here I am at 6.34 in the morning, all on me ownsome with no transport and I have a craving for a fillet of fish worthy of an expectant Mum! I do like burgers, but without all the relish and stuff, yik! My favourite is actually a joint favourite. I love the fillet of fish with its creamy tartare sauce, and I love the chicken royale, probably because that too has a healthy helping of mayonnaise. I tend to dip the fries in the mayonnaise and have a lovely time eating my meal very slowly and savouring every mouthful. We tend to eat in the car because we can drive somewhere with a nice view and our favourite time is the sunset. It is now sun rise and I still got the cravings!

You are terrible and a bad influence, you food posts always make my taste buds and munchies run riot! We don't have an uncle Sam around here so the Royale is all I have, but wow! that is more than enough.
@Darkwing (21583)
1 Aug 07
Oh yeah!!! Chicken Royale! Yummy, yummy, and thank you Burger King. :) I ALWAYS buy those at Burger King. However, Uncle Sam's Chicken Samwich is by far my favourite. It's pretty similar to Royale, but in the standard bun. I like my fish burgers with a few chips arranged on top of the fish. (A fish n chip supper in a bun, if you like) ha ha ha. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Yes, sometimes the fast food chain burgers do taste a bit bland. They lack seasoning or something. I normally stick to Chicken Royale at Burger King. Now, that's a meal in itself... hold the fries!!! lol.
@Darkwing (21583)
1 Aug 07
Yup, you got it... you can make your own to taste and cook them either on the grill or the barbecue come to that, if you like the chargrill taste that Burger King seem to produce. Also, you have a choice of bun... and they're much fresher. Brightest Blessings.

We do not have Uncle sams up here where I live so I have to use Mcdonalds which is not very often, in fact rarely at all but when I do it has to be a cheeseburger as my favourite choice, with a banana milk shake as my preferred drink.

Yes, Banana Milk Shake is my favourite shake, then Vanilla. A lot of the Uncle Sam's closed down in Brighton, but there is still one, I think, and there's one in Burgess Hill which isn't too far away. I also like Burger King, but they're a little more expensive, although not so far away... about a mile and a half. The only trouble there is, they don't do milk shakes.:( Brightest Blessings, my dear friend.

Do you know Joe & Leo's? I'm not sure, but I think it's an American brand. They have the most delicious hamburgers ever, but I'd never leave McDonald's. McDonald's has such an unique taste. I don't know what they do to that food, I just know I like it very much. People complain everything has the same taste in there. I agree, but it's a really wonderful taste for me.
@Darkwing (21583)
16 Aug 07
No, sorry Labridbz. I'm in the UK and haven't heard of Joe and Leo's. As for McDonald's, I dont like the buns. They're very small, rubbery and sweet. It's just a matter of taste, I guess. Brightest Blessings.

Hi Darkwing! Wow, everything you mentioned is delicious! Now, I feel like ordering one.LOL! I don't usually go to McDonalds and I eat burgers not that often too but I do get my burgers at a local Pizza Parlor in our area. They also serve burgers there aside from the pizza. The beef patties are really juicy and tender served with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber, with mayonnaise and fries. Sometimes we do eat in but most of the times have it delivered at home. Have a nice day!

I eat hamburgers, but usualy only from Sonic. I ususaly get a bad stomache every time I eat one, so I try to stay away. There are times though that I just have a craving for one and have to have one. I wish I could figure out what it was that upsets my stomache. I even make them at home and it does it to me. Oh well. I love lots of cheese on mine.
@Darkwing (21583)

Hmmmm, perhaps you're allergic to something in Hamburgers. It would seem so if it makes you ill every time. I think I'd want to know what it was if I liked them but got tummy problems eating them, and it could be something as trivial as the relish or similar. Brightest Blessings.

sometime ago i used to like burgers from the fast food chains but later on i got tired of going to them and make my own version of burger. aside from it being economical, i can choose which fillings and garnishing to put in and i feel it more healthier than those that can be bought out.
@Darkwing (21583)

Oh, I'm sure it's far more healthy to make your own burgers. For one thing, you can use 100% beef, and for another, you can add all the flavours you prefer and make a really tasty burger. Brightest Blessings.

I love cheeseburgers but I live in Thailand. If eat out I have to go to bangkok and get a nice burger at Hard Rock Cafe. I prefer the Burger King Whopper to Mcdonalds. Back here in Ubon Ratchathani I usually have to make my own although just recently a Scandanavia fellow opened a restaurant and has a good burger. I do miss barbecues.

I would think the effort you have to make to buy a burger probably makes them taste all the better. Everything in moderation, huh? Brightest Blessings.
