Who should be held accountable??

Recently, I saw a news article about a woman in Florida who adopted 11 special needs children using aliases and kept them handcuffed and held prisioners in her home while collecting childcare payments for their care from NYC where she adopted them from.
Officals say they were handcuffed and not allowed to go to school or the doctors and were barely fed. These children were adopted between 1993 and 1996.
They also say she collected some $2 million dollars from the child welfare agency.
Now, officials are saying she faces up to 190 years on 10 counts of her crimes. I agree wholeheartedly that she should go to prison...for the rest of her life.
But...what about the caseworkers and supervisors that did nothing to protect these kids?? Why are they not being held accountable as well? Since these were all special needs children there should have been follow up visits...check ups or something. Since she collected payments they had to know where she was. I think that the ppl that ignored it or looked the other way should be held just as accountable as she is.
What do you think?

That is awful. I can't understand why people would ever want to hurt a poor, innocent child. I think that everybody that had anything to do with it should face charges. Even family and friends that might have known what was going on. This makes me so sad to even think about that happening.

I think the caseworkers and supervisors are vastly overworked, and by not hiring enough or training enough, it is a false economic measure. Surely this woman who adopted the children should be held mainly responsible, and so should the city or state that does not allow enough money to hire enough caseworkers, and who think that foster kids are just children who are well adjusted and just need a temporary home. Many of these children are messed up, and there ratio of caseworker to child , should be less in say, a caseworker checking a home to see if the adoptive parents were suitable.

That is so sad. I agree that she should go to prison for life. I also think that there are many more people responsible for the treatment of this poor child. Too many have dropped the ball on this. Others should be held accountable.

I think she should certainly spend the rest of her life in prison, no doubt about that, but also something needs to be looked into as far as who should have been checking up on these kids. I'm not sure if it would have been the responsibility of officials in Florida or New York but somebody sure dropped the ball on this one. Shouldn't someone have been following up with these children to make sure they were going to school and getting the medical care they needed? I can't believe with today's modern technology something like this could happen.

Oh my God thats terrible. Those poor children. I think everyone involved should be held accountable. There should have been regular visits to this womans home to be sure the children were in a safe environment and being taken care of properly.
