Giving Money To The Poor Will Put Us In Jail... LoL...?

At least this is what will happen in my country. It seems like not making sense. I have read today's newspaper this morning about this thing. There are more and more beggar on streets increasing day to day. The fact is that most of them are not really beggar and poor. They just found out that being beggars will get easy money without have to work any more. According to the survey that every day, one can earn usd 5 or more by begging each day. Thats why there are more and more lazy people who want to get this easy money too. And for that the government make this rule and punishment for us who get busted giving money to the beggar on streets to decrease the volume of them. The punishment will be 6 months in jail and fine about 600 in usd. I agree that this makes sense. So what do you think?

There are panhandlers and street musicians with their cases open, literally EVERYWHERE here. I can't go anywhere, at least in the downtown area of my city, without running into them. I wish we had a law in place like that here. Maybe then I could actually go to the bank and go shopping without the constant "Good morning do you have a dollar?" I can't even get on the bus sometimes without people begging for bus money. Hey, that's why I have a bus pass, so I don't have to worry about always having enough change available. I am getting very tired of panhandlers and beggars, at least seeing so many of them all over the place downtown here and by the mall.

I guess your place just the same like mine. And it wont be enough by giving one. Another will come as well if they see you give one of them a con. I hope your government will do something to overcome this problem too. Good luck :D

I get the logic, but I don't agree. It's like saying in my town, don't feed the ducks because it makes them produce too many duck droppings in the lake, thus polluting the lake. So if you get caught feeding the ducks, they fine you. However, it doesn't matter WHERE the ducks get their food, they are only going to eat their fill and make the same amount of waste in the same lake. Maybe it's the quantity of ducks or beggars like you say... if you don't feed or give them money, their number will not increase. Still I don't agree with it. There will always be people in need and hungry animals, and God puts it in our capacity to help them if we can, so we should.

There are always going to be people who take advantage of any situation to make easy money. I can not understand why the shame of it is not more important to them but it is not. So to fix the problem your government goes after the wrong people. Who came up with this very stupid law. If it became known that stealing was easy and you would not be prosecuted for it more people would steal. Instead the people they rob from would be prosecuted because they have too much. There is very little difference that I can see. So the poor people who have no choice but beg or starve are the losers. It would take a politician to come up with this reverse mentality. And you say you agree with it. Well I do not and never would. Go after the people who are begging that do not need to and you have my vote.

By the way there are a big difference between begging and stealing of course, and you know it. I know the idea is ridiculous but I understand why the government does this. You dont know people here. I live here since born and I know what kinda people here. There is no way to make them scared of anything even jail. They will come back again and again. And thats what happened so far. And we are hardly to find out which ones are real and which ones are not. And also we will always feel sorry for them eventhough we know lot of them are fake ones and keep giving them coins. Thats why the government makes this kinda rule so we will stop giving money and they will disappear one by one. Actually our government doesnt forbid us to give to the poor, just the way and whom we give are wrong. Anyway, there are alway pro and contra for everything. Thanks for your opinion. :D

It is the saddest part that if you give money to the poor you will be in jailed. But the government is just looking at it and studied the most generopus solutions to these kind of problems. I know as Human......i do understand someone who wishes to hand in money to the poor.............but it doesn't say the government will punish someone to be caught rendering help to the poor. When you intend to help someone........you can do that my other means instead of giving them money directly. You can use by means of goods..........that could be used for them to make any business instead of money. MOney is the root of all evil so we don't know if they are using the money for good might be using for bad activities. Helping them by other means could be a great help......foods, clothes and any other things except giving them in cash............could be possible for other people accross the country to help my children in school in the Philippines through feeding them............foods and clothes they need most........please?
