I will have a new habit for my new discussion in Mylot:)

Hello youless!:-) You already started a very good habit. I too rate discussions and it is positive all the time. If I don't like the response, I don't rate the response at all. Through my stay on here, I haven't given perhaps more than 4 or 5 negative ratings that too for visible abuse against other responders. I don't rate someone negative even if he/she abuses me or call me names. I believe that by doing this they are harming themselves, their innerself, and I am free of their abuse, so there is no point in rating them negative. Mylot does say that ratings have effect on earnings. I don't know, however, that how much is this effect. They have mentioned this at some places in their FAQ. Most clear is DRS-explanation (Discussion Rating System), so I'll paste that with relevant link. Faq, chapter17, under "What are the + and – I see on each discussion, response, comment and photo?" "The DRS is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx similarly in FAQ, chapter6 under "Why do my earnings fluctuate?" "myLot does not reward low-quality contributions, or even worse, attempts to game the earnings algorithm." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx Negative rating is a factor in determining low quality posts. There are a lot of things to be learned on myLot, and it sounds like you are still learning. People will not necessarily know that you have rated them, but they will appreciate what it does for their ratings. The people I rate - usually are also abusers. So I rate them - then report the abuse. I will rate - for people who are negative to other people, in my discussions or in someone else's discussion. I rate all the time, all over the site.

Hey yl, That's what I do -whether I have anything to add to the response or not I always rank responses. I'm starting a new habit too-I think it's cool that you posted this discussion right when I started trying something new too|;) I'm gonna try to resolve all my discussions w/ a best response & only comment on responses if I really really have something to add rather than just a simple thanks that way I'll have more time to type responses on my friends discussions|;) +'s|:)

That's a great habit to have! I always do that in my discussions too, and when I really like someone's reply while posting in other discussions as well. I do wish there was a way to know who has rated you well so we can at least go back and thank them if we wish. I've only rated negatively to spammers and people who I've seen insult and curse at other members. That kind of thing should really not be done here, we're a community after all! Anyway, nice new habit! Hehe. :)

hey buddy, u have a very good habbit. I have also started give rankigns to the people. It always fell nice to have a good reputation :)

Yeah I learned about this early since it started about a week after I joined. I do the same, if someone puts effort in to their reply, you know on the topic, and not spam, I plus them. Spam I hit with a - and sometimes after I report it if it's bad enough.

Hi youless(: I have also started the same habit like yours not too long ago. Like you I didn't know what those marks were and I just always leave them untouched. When I discovered what they mean, I started marking my responders positive almost all of them. If the responder leaves a one liner, I just leave it and not mark anything. But to those who have different opinions I still mark positive, they are very welcome to my post even if they do not agree. To those who are rude, make sarcastic comments or just do not abide by mylot's rules I just do not mark them. I just don't like to have to mark anyone negative.

:) that's a good habit.i like to do this too.it's my appreciation for those who take time to respond to my discussions and for those disscussions i agree with.everytime i saw a topic i like,i will give it a positive mark.

The only ones I mark negative are the responses that are obviously spam. Otherwise I mark them positive.

I normally always give positive feedback to every new discussion i respond to and i give everyone that responds to one of my discussions positive feedback. I would like to think that people do the same, i do not think it helps earnings but for some reason i like to do it because it rates other users and like you said, everyone likes a good rating. I normally only mark spam posts as negative or i press the report button which informs MyLot moderators.

I have been doing that thing ever since I joined 3 months ago. I was told by my friend that giving a + rating to every responses can give us a good reputation. I did, and even have 10 or blue star before. I just do not know what happened today when my reputation went down so bad. Maybe because I have less time in mylot. God bless!
