Yes! Grandpa Bob does have some house plants. This photo is of my Ivy in my dining room. It is creeping up to the valance on my window then all the way back down. It measures nearly 100 inches. yes, one hundred inches. Just an example of my green thumb I guess. it sits in sunshine about 8 hours a day. In the winter it sits in my living room where it's warmer for it. I love seeing the vine from outside as i walk past the window. I want to get some of that ivy that creeps on houses. I've always loved the looks of those houses with Ivy all over the exterior.

Nice looking plant Grandpa Bob. My mom had one like that and it almost took over the kitchen.lol. I can't have house plants mainly because my cats think I shouldn't and they like to destroy them.lol.

Plant some catnip for the cats. I did that for one
of mine and she never touched the houseplants again.

I know all about cats liking to destroy the houseplants. These group of ivies WERE growing around this window till my one kitten, Tigger, decided they would make great play toys one night. I woke up to one of the pots hanging off the sill and the middle one just bout over the edge with all trailing vines deleaved. I'm starting over with them in hopes he learned his leasson. NOT!! lol
pssssst..my bathroom wall is not that dark.lol It's more a peach color.

I always am told that the things that will climb your house will also ruin the siding, or brick. Having said that I will say that I have Virginia Creeper that climbs the north side of my house, and there is a vine that is almost to the top of the second story. It covers my dining room windows and gives a nice "gardeny feel to it." Virginia Creeper has clusters of five leaves, that turn scarlet in the fall, and it has blue colored berries that attract birds, especially cardinals. If I ever pull any of the vine, I wind it into wreaths.

The first thing my son planted when he bought our house was a GVirginia creeper, in hopes that it will cover the fence and block out the drunken neighbours. Its grown more than 3 feet this year alone.

We seem to have a lot in common with dogs and now house plants. I have 27 house plants and an ICU area where at the moment I have 4 bromeliad pups (offshoots). I never knew I had a green thumb as I was raised in the city. I enjoy looking after my plants and dogs.

I'm hoping to get more house plants myself sometime soon...I used to have so many--long long time ago...used to have plants hanging from each and every window...My mom was a real killjoy though and often made "remarks" that the place looked like the Hanging gardens of Babylon...Yeesh..critics.

Ohhhh, pretty. Can you take a picture? I used to have ivy's that were very long. Now I have children, dogs, and an iguana that like to tear them up. I try and try to keep them out of reach so they can grow, but seems no matter what I do, someone gets a hold of a plant. The plants always stay alive, but they become alot shorter or smaller!! :o)

I see the picture now. Sorry, I answered the discussion right out of the email, so it didn't show me the picture till I responded. Very nice. Beautiful. I just love plants. I would have more of them if I had enough high spots to put them in. :o)

I have one of those plants as well, but its only about 3 feet long since everyone keeps taking slips. Mine seems to be thriving in one of my fish tanks. It keeps the nitrogen level down a bit. Those houses with the beautiful ivy all over the outside tend to start falling apart,The Virginia creeper eats the minerals in the rock or wood and literally eats them from the outside in

I have some Ivy like that. Last year I cut 10 foot long pieces from it and gave it to a friend. It grows so fast. I have had it for years and wanted to start fresh. It had completely covered the stand that I had it on and needed thinning out. I hated to do it, but I am glad I did. It looks a lot nicer and healthier now.

I used to have house plants. I gave up many years ago, & concentrated on my garden which is very large.
I do love indoor plants, & your ivy looks great the way it is growing.
Indoor plants are a bit harder to look after, require more work, & the cats think they are a litter tray.

Beautiful house plant. I have only one house plant I should get more house plants. Maybe I should bring in some of my plants from out back when the weather changes. I have lots of spider plats, and other plants in pots on my patio.

that's cool. rated it a +. it's great that it gets so much sunshine though it's an indoor plant. does your wife enjoy gardening too? she likes planting stuff or do you do it mainly on your own?
yes those houses and university buildings covered with thick green ivy are gorgeous. esp when some of them turn into beautiful autumnal hues in fall! and covered with snow in winter!
