Right now I am reading Frederick Forsyth's "The Afghan," which is a thriller/spy novel. I am not that far into the book yet to make a sound judgment about it. Would love to hear from anyone who has already read it. The three books I have read recently that I recommend are: "Reality: The Novel" by Jeff Havens. It's a satire on reality TV and it's funny to boot. I also loved "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, who is the author of "The Kite Runner," a book so popular it sold 4 million copies. Finally, for those writers in the crowd, I loved "Bird by Bird" by Anne Lamott, which is a basic how-to for beginning (and experienced) writers that is simply charming. It also has tons of practical advice about writer's block, starting out, publishing, and so on. Finally, I just finished a great spy book called "A Spy by Nature" by Charles Cumming. He goes inside the mind of a young guy recruited to work for the British Secret Intelligence Service (UK version of CIA). It was a fantastic book, and he based the novel on his own experiences.

Unfortunately I cannot afford to read for leisure right now because of the tremendous law books that i have to read for law school. Anyway, my all time favorite book is The bronze horseman by Paullina Simons. The rainmaker by John grisham comes to close second. I have read both these books twice :)

I am currently reading The Stand by Stephen King. A friend recommended it after a discussion last week so I'm giving it a try. I generally find King books to be really long. Too long. But this one seems good so far so we'll see where it goes. My favorite book of all time is a children's book called Island of the Blue Dolphin. It is a story about a young girl who gets stranded alone on an island and how she manages to live on her own. It was given to me when I was about 10 and was very sick so it took my mind off of my illness and was a source of great comfort to me. I still read it when I am not feeling well and it comforts me. I think that my favorite adult book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a great love story that involves time travel and history and it takes place in Scotland. It's a great book.

I am currently reading "The Bishop and the Missing L Train" by Andrew M. Greeley. I have read several of his books. I think he is the second most read author on my reading list. I have read more Ed McBain books than any other author, but then he has written hundreds of books. I don't have a favourite book. I have read almost 800 books since I was in grade school, there is no way I can pick one favourite book. I love to read and read what I love. I usually stick to my favourite authors (of which there are several) but sometimes step outside my comfort zone and read a new author and enjoy them too. But I don't have a favourite book.

Currently I am reading a book titled Don't Be Sad. In Arabic it is called "La Tahzan", or in Malay it is titled "Jangan Bersedih". It is written by Dr. Aidh Bin Abdullah Al-Qarni. I read this book because it has a lot of consoling sentences to reduce sadness in myself. I am not in a deep depression or anything, it's only that the book gives me some sort of comforting. I love this book. It can be found in popular book stores throughout the country.
