To achieve the stated long-term vision, a critical mass base was a prerequisite within a project intervention cycle. This assumptin determined our coverage of 16 panchayats in one block By working exclusively with women from marginalised communities, our promary objective of empowerning women would remain the central focus. Women's empowernment with a holistic perspective would set in motion a generative process enconmpassing all aspects of social relations. Initiating traditional development programmes such as Balwadis, helath programmes or income generation programmes, even as an entry point strategy, would have a diametrically oppposite effect on our long-term vision of women's empowerment. Higher earnings by women coupled with ownership of productive assests would enhance their bargaining powre within the household.
