I have been surpised on several occassions.
There are times when a discussion turned into a heated argument. There have been times when I thought a discussion would recieve a lot of replies and they didn't. There are times when I didn't expect much of a response and I received a lot of replies.
Most recently, I was suprised by my discussion on athiests. First I didnt have many responses. Then, overnight I had several. The most surpising thin was that I really enjoyed the responses.
There were some really insightful responses.
It really game me some answers that I didn't think of and they made perfect sense...
Does this happen to you when you post a discussion?
It's like planting a seed and not knowing what type of tree your going to get. Some are full of flowers and some are full of thorns. Some bear a lot of fruit and some bear none at all.

to answer that.........Discussion is always a discussion. Don't ever give a damn of entertaininng people who is fightin ofr that. Each one of us is entitled to give comments not to criticized because we are not perfect........we are just human being. To those people who love to criticizedthen it's their problem whether to get negative reactions on the topic that discussion. They can comment yes.....bu sometimes they took that personally which mean they are not sports about that. Whatever may come..........as long as you share your comments, ideas and views.........that's it. You did not intend to hurt them anyway. If they got hurt then it is their responsiblity why they were hurt ant it's non of our business. Let them antagonize that's their freedom so far. Just take it as a credit that there is always good and bad. Do we have equal size of fingers.............if so show me and tell me whay?

MyLot is full of surprises and always has been.
When I first started, I entered into long debates with people with opposite views to mine, and those same people have become very close friends.
I have never been in a heated argument. I have been in long and detailed debates, with opposing views, but they have always been conducted with courtesy and respect. I have come across two men whom I avoid, not because there is no reply to their arguments, but because they are intolerant, offensive and abusive. I simply avoid them.
I do not post many discussions, but there again we have surprises. I thought my last two discussions were very good and would draw a number of responses, but they have one and three responses. Some of my older discussions, which I didn't think were very good, keep re-surfacing with more responses. So, yes: surprises. We are all different, and that is good.

I don't start discussions very often, but when I'd really like theories/opinions on something or some issue, they usually go completely unanswered.I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not going to cheapen my discussion or sensationalize just to get a few meaningless responses. There's def enough of that going on.

I have had several discussions I thought would take off but didn't and several I thought wouldn't get any answers and they are the ones I got the most on. Life is funny like that..god likes to keep us guessing I guess. I like the saying you wrote about the planting a seed and not knowing what your going to get. I guess that is like life you plant a little seed every night before bed and you never know what to expect the next day..sometimes you get a curve ball and get one that is beautiful with flowers, but with thorns.

Just like real life, and real conversations. have you not ever wanted a conversation to go in one direction and found it completely steared away? Or how about, when you mean one thing, but the other person takes it a whole different way?

oh yes of course. It's like talking to strangers and surprised with their responses. close friends I can guess what their responses are sometimes, but on mylot I found out things a lot of things about friends that draw me closer to them or just make me sick.
