Merv Griffin died yesterday. Many older then me may remember his singing career or his movies parts. Some may remember his tv show, an afternoon show like Ellen Degeneris has today. Some may also know him from the game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He also was a successful business man who ended up with part of the Resorts Hotels ownership in his portfolio.
What is it you think of when you hear the name Merv Griffin?
What do you remember about him?

Merv will be missed by many people. I enjoyed watching his talk show where he would have a variety of guests. He cared about people and it was easy to see on the show. Sadly, another one of the hard working class act stars is gone that believed in working for money.

I think of one of the best talk show hosts.Like Johnny Carson, Merv would be really interested in the person he was interviewing. Be it a movie star or a regular person, if you were on his show, he wanted to hear your story.and then I think of the creator of the best quiz show, Jeopardy. I just hear that he composed the Jeopardy theme. Wow.He was a nice, down to earth man. I didn't realize how much I missed seeing his show.I would catch it after school. My mom and I would watch together. Well I hope he is in the part of heaven where Eva is.

I remember his talk show very well and watched it regularly. He was one of the few talk show hosts who didn't think his audience was stupid. He had intelligent, fun and interesting guests and was always a gentleman, kind and considerate to everyone. He also had a wonderful singing voice. One of the few singers of that genre who I really enjoyed listening to.
He said in an interview once that his epitaph would read, "I will NOT be back after this message." I wonder if they will actually put that on his headstone. It would be quite a humorous tribute to a guy with a great sense of fun and humor.
He will be sorely missed.
