Karl Rove is probably one of the best political strategist of our day. He lead George W. Bush to two governortoral elections in Texas, and two presidential elections. In both of the first elections, George W. Bush was facing sitting executives. In Texas it was Anne Richardson, and for the presidency it was Vice President Al Gore. Following Karl Rove's strategy of focusing all the political energy into a few key counties and states, the Bush/Cheney ticket was victorious. Following that the strategy of switching districts that had conservative Dems with Conservative Republicans was huge. It gave Bush 6 years of Republican control of Congress. Karl Rove will be missed and I would hope for him all the best.

Hey you are right. We are not here to discuss whether Karl Rove was a good man, we're here to discuss his abilities as a political strategist and in that area the man is brilliant. And besides, how dirty is he really? I mean politics as it stands is not a particularly nice game to be in the first place. If you think about it, Karl Rove made George Bush who he is. The man should not have beaten Ann Richards, who was a popular governor of Texas. The man should also have lost to Al Gore, particularly when you consider Al Gore was the number 2 man in an administration that brought 8-years of uninterupted growth. Sure, both Ann and Al made stratetic mistakes in their political campaign - but all credit to Karl ROve for making sure his guy capitalised on them. We could do with more people with Karl Rove's intelligence. It would definately create a more vibrant atmosphere in the political scene.

A year later I must say he hasn't been missed because he hasn't really gone anywhere. Possibly - OK, hopefully in my opinion - he'll soon go to jail regarding his refusal to testify before Congress about his involvement in the case of the former Alabama governor and the allegations he tried to get "dirt" on him. I get the distinct impression , that you Create topics , just to see whom will take the Bait. You are very clever in setting people up , then playing Devil's advocate. Kudos to your gaming Skills. I always try to remember , not necessarily what the subject is , but what the impetus behind it is most likely to be. Again ...I congratulate you. Do you play Chess as well as you set people up?
