I was just answering a discussion from one of my friend’s who have cats and dogs. I asked her how many pets does he have and it make me think; how many pets do myLotters have and what kinds? I have three pets, one little dog he is six-pound Papillion who keeps the cats in order. My Papillion is named Petie, he is five years old and he loves to play fetch with his stuffed toys. He is good he does not chew them up. When they get to dirty for me handle I thaw them in the washing machine. I then have two cats one is my avatar photo her name is Sammie she is 10 years old and bigger than Petie. She is a love bug; she is just a normal cat who loves to sit on your lap to be petted. I also have a calico cat named Abigail. She is the biggest of my pets. She is about 15 lbs and when she gets mad at me she goes outside and puts her front feet in our swimming pool. I have not gotten a photo of it yet. She is so funny. She has claws and likes to attack Petie to play with him and sometimes they run up and down the hallway. With my husband we are one happy family. Please tell me how many pets you have and what types of pets they are.

Oh my god, this is, like, my favorite subject! You know how some people just go on and on about thier kids - I do that same thing but about my animals. Alright, here goes: Avalon - my Dalmatian/Labrador cross, she was a rescue, I have had her for about five years now, she's great with us (my family) but not so great around strangers no matter how much socializing I go through with her. Patches - my domestic medium haired cat, also a rescue, she was part of a litter of kittens that was dropped off at my house years ago, kind of a snob. Stinky - my domestic short haired cat, again with the rescue, she was a hit by car patient that was dropped off at the vet's office that I worked at in '03 and I took responsiblity for her bills and adopted her, she kind of psychotic but is hilarious. Norman - my Angus/Limosine cross cow that has septic arthritis and dwarfism, guess what? she's a rescue (it's my disease - rescuism) Norman (yes, it's a girl!) is almost two years old, weighs about 300 pounds and stands as tall as my stomach, for me she is a doll, I hug her and groom me and she pushes me around and begs for food, oh, and she grooms me too by licking my clothes. She is scared of other people and runs really weird but she is my baby. My herd of goats - I have fourteen right now, a mix of dairy breeds, meat breeds and mix breeds, they are the most entertaining thing on my farm. I have two boys, Aikane and Puki and the females are Venus, Serena, Lilo, Kiska, Chocolate, Dyani, Oreo, Faleen, Ioke, Iwa, Kokoleka and Morticia. Mini-Roo and Frenchie - these are my two Bantam chickens, the smallest pets on my farm, they have great personalities and follow us around like tiny dogs. That's about all the pets I have...today...I get new animals all the time, so you never know who or what you will find here. You can see pictures of my pets at flickr.com, my screen name is kakemafarms, it's free to sign up, you don't earn any money by going there (neither do I) but you sure have a lot of fun!

I love your big heart and your big animals. We use to have goats which we milked, pigs, cattle only a few, chickens including bantams. I had a pair of bantams named Henry and Henretta. They where a great pair. We saved a goat that mama did not clean up or feed, it was breathing and that was all, we brought it home. My twin sister bottle fed it and slept with it, when she got up in the morning she would give it to me to keep warm in the AM. We had a bottle baby pig once we called MCP- Male Chauvinist pig, he grew up to 200lbs. We had bunnies, geese, ducks and I think that is about all.

It's to bad some people are allergic to cats. I have heard of a cat that does not have dander, it is not the hairless kind either. You might go in the net and plug in allergy free cat.

it is really easy to obtain and it is definitely worth it obviously u love your son and that is a no brainer but someday he may ask for a pet and u will have to tell him the reason why he cant have 1. i hope u can tell him why he cant. there are so many ways to have a pet and a allergic child live together . their is medications and there are products to use so the child is not affected. i feel sorry for him because he is being denied every childs wish. and that is to have their own pet and learn responsibility of being held accountable for something. dont be angry it is just how i feel u r right to have the feelings u have but i have these feelings of which i have a right to myself.

We have nine fish. I used to have cats, my husband used to have a dog, but because we live in an apartment building, we can't have any pets that make noise.

We have two dogs. A male Akita, named Yoshee and a female Boxer named Halo. We got Yoshee from an Akita breeder and we rescued Halo from a very unhappy situation. Yoshee is 3 and Halo is 2 years old. Yoshee's bark will scare the begebbers out of you and Halo says, "pet me, pet me."

My friend has a pomerarian which is a little cutie. Her name is Bittie she has to be the center of attention. She also has five papillions and one chocolate lab. The chocolate lab has to be by hisself because he has killed the little ones. So she lets the lab in her room and the little ones out. We call it THE GREAT DOG EXCHANGE. It was even worse when her female was in heat and she did not want to have a littler of puppies.

Oh,no.Thats a shame.Male dogs do they normally do this or was there jealousy?Bittie is a REALLY cute name for a small dog.Toutou is french for a small stuffed animal. It was my daughter when she was 1 yr old that named her,so we stuck with this because we didnt know of a good name for her.Its suits her well.

I am a pet person and have rarely gone without an animal in my life. I have a boxer, Oz. He's a little over 2 years old and an overgrown puppy really. We rescued him from the SPCA in March 2006. He weighs 77 pounds and truly believes he's a lap dog. He's a nut and makes a point of making us laugh as often as possible. He's also incredibly protective.

I have one dog, well technically he's still a puppy. He's a genuine mutt. Some people would say he's a 'Heinz 57'. Others try to tell me what breed he is. I can see many breeds in him. He appears to have some border terrier, some dashound, some beagel and possibly some cat.

Which do you prefer, long haired or short haired cats? Mine is a short haired, I can't stand cleaning up the long hair all over the house.

Pearl - The kitten sleeping off dinner
The household currently has 28 cats & 3 dogs. The one roomie has 2 cats & a dog, the other roomie & I each claim a dog, but kind of share most of the rest of the cats. Some are definately her's & some are definately mine, but most of them don't care who's they are - just hand out the pets & keep the food bowl full!

Its not always easy. But, you know, we can understand that there's no food, they can't. So we buy the cat food first....

What do you do with 28 cats and three dogs? Wow that is a lot of cats. I was commenting to a person who had four cats that they where brave, but you are even braver. I cannot even begin to be able to afford to feed all the cats.

...Great thread! i really enjoyed reaeding about everyone's pets. ...There are three cats in our home. Fred is a tabby/ragdoll. Sachiko is a russian blue and Candy is a blue burmese. ...We recently lost our chocolate lab, Willie Wonka. He was 13 and had deteriorating vertabra from middle of his back to tail. ...We have had goldfish and teddybear hamsters, too. I babysit for an iquana. He is pretty cool. I do not enjoy feeding the camen. Their eyes scream, "Yumm! Finger snacks." ...Thanks for asking. Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

I do not want iquanas but I love to look at them and let someone else have them. I do not like snakes either. I feel they belong out in the while. So far no one has said they have a snake. I like teddybear hamsters they are so cute. Sounds like you have a great family.

I think the cats really to perfer to be indoor outdoor animals. Mine go in the back yard which is fence. They stay in there and lay under the bushes. I feel Sammie pretends she is in the jungle stocking wild beasts. Abigail attacks pretty much anything moving outside she is funny attacking the grass. I love to see her play.

I just want to clarify something here... do you throw the dogs in the washing machine when they get dirty, or the dog toys? Haha I have a four year old cat named Steve. He's a show cat I got from a friend of my mother, who does cat shows around the country. He's a really relaxed cat that likes to sit back (literally) and watch tv with me. He's also really really friendly, unlike most cats, and will walk over to you and sit on your lap.

I guess I throw the dog's toy in the wash machine instead of the dog. hahaha. Petie goes once a month to the groomers. He loves going and spending the day. I think he loves all the attention they all give him there, it is at a busy vets office and all the workers love him there. Petie has been going ther since he was a puppie. I had a cat named Forrest Gump, he had a very low IQ hence the name. He loved people and would get up on companies laps.

I have 2 dogs: a 1 1/2 year old white labrador/husky mix who is my best companion and friend; and my little jack russel/beagle mix, dora adorable. She is 8 months old and tons of fun with a great personality. Shawnee, my white lab/husky is her best friend and he simply worships the ground she walks on! She is the queen of the roost and he follows her lead. What a marvelous team they are and what incredible pleasure I derive from their antics. sunnywaters

It sounds like they are turn friends/family. I call by pets brother and sisters. I call the cats my girls and the then I have Petie. I do not think of them as my Kids, they are my pets. I guess if they are my girls but not my kids that does not make sense. Oh well that is just me.

We have a rented/adopted/honorary dog. My neighbor has two dogs a cat and a ferret. I have three boys. They are pets enough on their own. We are thinking of getting a dog when they get a bit older. Well my neighbor lets us borrow her dog. She hangs out with us all day while my neighbor is at work and we take her home when my neighbor gets home from work. Whenever my boys are playing outside the dog figured out how to open the door on her own, so she goes out there with them. It is really cool.

My Petie is usually in the room that I am in. He is usually under foot. I have tripped over him because of it. He is 6lbs and small so there has been times he is right behind me and I have not seen him. I guess if I did not have such a big butt for him to hide behind, I could see him. LOL

I have 2 dogs, a cat, 2 african dwarf frogs, and a betta fish. My dogs are a boxer and a min pin. The min pin thinks she's in charge..lol. My cat was an inside cat but he always wanted outside so now he just stays out. He doesn't even try to come in. I wanted an inside cat, but he loves to run around. I just recently got the frogs, I got them because they get along with the betta really well, and I got two because they like to have a buddy. Those are my pets! I want to get another dog after we move in about a month, but I'm not really sure what kind I want. I probably won't be too picky as I will be rescuing one from the local animal shelter. As long as he gets along with my babies, we'll be good!

I don't have pets but it's not that I don't like pets. It's just that, you know, what if they die? What would you do? I don't think I can handle it. But then, if I were to own a pet, I'd have fish--lots of fish.

I tend to kill fish or love them so much they cannot stand it and they jump out of their tank and die. I do not have luck with fish, my sister has fish and is doing great with them.
