Do you wear a robe, when you have guests sleeping over at your home?

When I was growing up, we would visit my grandmother and like the gentle Southern lady she was, she insisted that everyone wear robes when they got up in the morning. It was simply not acceptable to run around in one's pajamas or nightgown. She wore a robe and she expected everyone else to do so. And, so I grew up believing that it was something everyone else did.
But more recently, I have been talking with friends and found out that some people don't feel the need to cover up their night clothes when guests are around. And, I suppose if you really knew someone well, like your mom, you might not feel uncomfortable wearing pajamas around her. But, for lesser known guests, I would certainly want to cover up before leaving my bedroom in the morning to prepare breakfast for guests. In fact, I would most likely change from night clothing into my daytime clothes, just to be sure not to offend anyone.
So, here's the question for you. Do you wear your pajamas in front of your house guests or put on a robe? Do you change from your night gown or pajamas into regular clothes before leaving your room when you know that strangers are in the house? Or, do you wear a night gown where everyone can see?

I don't understand why a robe would be any better?
I don't know what kind of pajamas you are talking about, but everyone in my family wears decent pajamas and we don't have to cover them up with a robe.
Heck, my daughter even has pajama days at school.
And I even check the mail in my pajamas without a robe.
Now that I think about it, the only person in my family that owns a robe is my daugher and the only reason she has a robe is because she liked how it looked and it kept her warm at nights.
I can understand the whole robe being a must, if someone was wearing a not so decent pajamas, then yeah, a robe should be worn, but not for regular pajamas.

If you thought that was shocking, you should read the post beneath yours.

I usually don't have overnight guests besides my family. Since I've been married, every overnight guest we've had has been either a parent or sibling to myself or my husband.
When it's my mom, or one of my sisters, I wouldn't mind going out in just my pajamas and encountering them. When my sister in law was here, I was the same way. I usually wear a t shirt and a pair of shorts to bed, so it's not any different than what a lot of people go to the mall or where ever else in.
As far as when it was my father and mother in law here, I always felt like I needed to be dressed and have my hair fixed and everything before I talked to either of them. Neither of them especially like me, so I don't want to give them one more thing to complain about!

That's a good point about the in-laws! Isn't it funny how everyone has the same experience world wide with their in-laws, but they always feel alone.

I won’t come out of my room without being dressed- so if I’m heading to the shower _ I grab a robe and go- I won’t walk around in my pj’s if there are people there- Most of the times I throw on sweats and a t anyways- even when no one is home- PJ’s aren’t comfortable to me to walk around in.

I wear Pj bottoms and leave my bra and teeshirt or top on when we have guests at home. Only until I go to bed i change into my pj top. Sometimes I have stayed in my daytime clothes until they have gone to bed, then showered and jumped into my pjs. I don't wear nightgowns only pjs or lavalavas (wrap arounds)

I usually wear a robe if I have company staying over, which is not often, or in the morning I will get up and put my street clothes.

I prefer to wear a robe around guests so as not to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I sleep in those little girl boxers and a cami and I know to some that might less than their used to. So if we're watching a late movie or sitting up gabbing then I'll wear a robe. However in the morning, I'll get up earlier and change into regular day clothes. I just feel more comfortable myself that way.

I never wear a robe. If I have guests who aren't intimate guests, I get dressed in my regular clothes before going out to where I would encounter them. I'm a guy and I don't sleep in pajamas. I either sleep in nothing or in underwear. I don't even own any pajamas. I have a robe that was a present many years ago that still has the tags on it since I have never worn it.
