"Lance's" cousin (D80) came to town.

Car Show 2007 - This is one of the photos that my daughter took at the town car show. If you zoom in close enough, you can see her reflection. This vehicle is a 1928 Plymouth and is polished to a high sheen.

About mid-July, Lance (the camera that my daughter owns) had an accident. There is another discussion written about that. While Lance was sick, my daughter had her first professional photography job to do. She was real worried about this job. A friend of ours sent his camera and a lot of his equipment to my daughter for her to use so she would not lose the job opportunity. Lance is a Nikon D40 and the cousin is a Nikon D80. D80 came with his own tripod and many fancy lenses. The task was to take photos of each classic car and owner at a car show in our home town. The photos were then printed and put into frames and awarded to the car owners. Many of the car owners were nervous at first when they saw a teenager taking the photos for the day. They were very pleased at the end of the day when they saw the finished photos. She got lots of praises from the car owners. Since she was the photographer for the day, she also took photos of people receiving their awards. Those photos will be printed and sent to them in their thank you for attending notes. Three of the day's photos were published in the town paper. Now my daughter is a published photographer. This experience of a lifetime would not have been possible if D80 had not come to visit. Have you ever used someone else's photography equipment?? Did it make you nervous?? Did it affect your photos??

I have several film cameras and a digital. i haven't had to borrow a camera. I have forgotten mine lots of times though and had people to take photos for me. They always say they will send me copies, but usually don't! I am so happy for her getting this opportunity. She will be going places, I am sure! I think I saw her in the door of the photo. Was that her?

Yes, that is her. If you do a close up on the photo, you can see her. The owner of this beautiful car has been to several shows and he polishes it so nicely. The vehicle is a 1928 Plymouth. It has wooden spokes and running boards. I love this vehicle.

It is a very nice car. I opened the photo page and could see her after reading the Description. I am proud of her for getting this job. She will be making a name for herself!

We are looking at colleges for her now. She will graduate high school in 3 years and we want to be ready. Hopefully, she will be able to make this hobby into a career.

I am so happy your daughter is being published. What a wonderful honor. I just have my digital camera and it does well for what I use it for. I am by no means a professional. I did get a bunch of my Cuba pics up on my profile page if you are interested in seeing some of Cuba. :) Just remember I am NOT a professional...lol.

I will be stopping by your profile page to check out your pics. I am thrilled with my daughter's accomplishments so far. She is in for a surprise herself. I just opened this week's town newspaper. Lo and Behold!!! Another of her photos has been published with the notation under it that says "Photo by Amanda Potter". That little by-line means so much to her. That is a ton of recognition in our small town. I have also gotten a phone call from one person to let me know that they saw the photo, and to congratulate my daughter.

Well I am so glad that a Friend came to aid there as the poor Girl would have missed out on all that and no doubt she would have been heartbroken which you could not have blamed her for Hugs

Yes, it was very kind of this gentleman to lend her all of his equipment. She, in turn, sent the camera back with a name. She named his D80 camera "Lucy". The man was so thrilled to have his camera named by her. He now refers to his camera as Lucy. My daughter has really started something. LOL So now we have the cousins, Lance and Lucy.

Lance is a nikon d40. My daughter would like to get a nikon d80 later. She is 16 years old and has her own company. It is called "Paris Dreams Photography". She also has a MySpace page for her company if you want to see her work.
