Why are traditional barbershops closed on Mondays?

It's been this way for as long as I can remember. I can understand them being closed on Sundays and I just always assumed that being closed on Monday would give the employees a two-day weekend, but in this day and age, you would think that they would lose a lot of business. Any thoughts?

hi I have a barber shop near my home, it is known as 'Laxmi Hair Cutting Saloon', the owner is my age, we are friends, his sons help him too in the job, he cuts my hair since last 5o years, it is open 7 days a week lol He dyes my hair, gives massage, trims nails, The charges are just 50 rupees, a big concession.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

It is interesting for me because I don't know there was a traditional barbershops' habit. I see all the barbershops in my country have never to close except for Chinese New Year. I will try to search this , if have, I will to search why?
