Yes, I knew this. I probably achieve that with vegetables, but not with fruit. I will have to make more of an effort.

Yes, I am aware that I need to have these portions, but do I always have these portions......no! I try my best but usually fall short. With the price of fruits and vegetables it is hard! Also, hubby and I work and hate to cook when we get home. We try to cook a lot on weekends and freeze the items to be ready for the week, but it is still hard! Each morning I have oatmeal and I always put some sort of fruit in it. I usually keep a bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer and I add a half cup to the oatmeal. I try to have a banana with lunch. I have a salad with dinner almost every night. but after that, it is hit and miss! Applesauce counts if it is sugar free. That is an easy serving...as is tomato juice. However, the tomato juice is very high in sodium...so I try not to have it too often.

In the UK we are told to eat five fruit or vegetables a day, which for me is very easy because I love fruit and can easily eat a couple of bananas, apples and an orange a day that's without my usual nightly vegetable portions with my dinner. It's not difficult to get your daily quota and you can cheat my drinking fruit juices to make up your daily allowance.

over here in australia, they are trying to get everyone to eat more fruit and veg....2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of veggies.... the servings are: Vegetables One serve of vegetables is 75 grams or: ½ cup cooked vegetables 1 medium potato 1 cup salad vegetables ½ cup cooked legumes (dried beans, peas or lentils) Fruit One serve of fruit is 150 grams of fresh fruit or 1 medium-sized piece (eg. apple) 2 smaller pieces (eg apricots) 1 cup canned or chopped fruit ½ cup (125mL) 100% fruit juice 1½ tablespoon dried fruit (eg. Sultanas or 4 dried apricot halves) but it is difficult when the prices of fruit and veg are so high nowadays especially with our droughts but at least there are frozen veggies etc that i can substitute
