Six months back, this is my popular discussion that I started. For this I got overwhelming response (about 200 responses). I want to know whether still this discussion hold good. Did anybody really watch TV while eating? If so, do you know it is bad habit?

Well, I just hope this discussion doesn't get deleted since you've already done it once. Yeah, to answer your question, I do watch TV while I eat, I don't care if it is a bad habit or not. However, during lunch, which we have in our dining room, we don't have a TV, so don't watch it there. The whole family eats lunch together, well, except the ones who are at work. But still the door to the living room is open and we can see the TV far off, although that wouldn't really be "watching" TV but it's more like TV is still in the background. Even though we are loud, it just seems so quiet without the TV on. It provides a nice ambient sound, and I have dinner in my room always, and there's a TV there, so it's just weird if it is off.

It is a BAD HABIT. There are lot of disadvantages involved in this habit - 1. You won't concentrate on intake of food. 2. You won't chew well the food, instead you swallow leading to indigestion. 3. You eat too much. Pls. realize that it is a bad habit.

I like to watch TV when I eat. But recently we have started turning the TV off at dinner time and eating together as a family with no interuptions. I am not sure if I like doing that but we are hoping that it will help the kids in some way.

Sometimes we do. It depends on whats going on. We try to eat at the table most nights. But theres always a few times we eat in the bedroom and watch our favorite shows. Or when the kids arnt home. I dont see the piont sittin at the table if there not there.

You try to avoid 'even sometimes'. It diverts your attention of eating food. It becomes routine and you won't chew well that leads to indigestion. Try to avoid watching TV while you eat.

Rarely but I do. Yes it is a bad habit but if you got no one to eat with then you might entertain yourself while you eat. I think it 's not so bad that I should get over it.

Yes I do watch tv while I am eating. I don't think its a bad habit as long as your still eating on the dining table and not directly in front of the television. :-)

I do but I try to concentrate on what I eat... and that's very hard and doesn't always work. It's strange that nowadays people tend to prefer watching tv while eating than sitting together and talk. Well, since people have different times when they are at home and so on, that's getting very hard... many families are happy if there is at least one day in a week the whole family is sitting together to eat and talk. But I guess... One big problem is.. you sit in front of the tv, eating, you don't really recognize what you're doing. You eat and eat, probably you are already fill oneself with.. and you don't really *check* it... you don't really take your time with chew, eating slowly,...
