What is your biggest pet peeve about other drivers?

I drove home today and it was like there was some pre-arranged ploy to have every driver in the county irritate me! There were the 3 who pulled out in front of me, causing me to have to break quickly. There was the two who cut me off, and the one who almost hit me because she was looking at her cell phone. GEEZE!!! What is your biggest pet peeve about drivers?

My biggest pet peeve is that people just do not pay enough attention to the road. The let all kinds of things distract them. I try to be very observant, and pay attention, but I am also guilty of it once in a while.

I totally agree with this. Its like a lot of them are in the twilight zone, at the place the are supposed to be going or they are imagining they are at the Indy. Clowns.

Lately it is drivers who are more interested in their cells phones than driving. I know it is dangerous to use it while driving but I had one in front of me at a stop light who was yapping away like crazy while waiting for the lights to change but unfortunately when the light changed to green he was still so busy talking he didn't move. So people behind me started blowing their horns which must have teed the cell phone driver off because he moved so slowly only 2 cars got through before the lights changed again.

They don't pay attention to their surroundings and everyone is in such a hurry. It is as if they own the road and you are in their way.

My biggest pet peeve is when I'm trying to get across a two lane road, or when I'm trying to turn left and I'm trying to be careful (and no, I don't drive like a granny) and the person behind me things I ought to be moving fast. They either honk at me or they try to get around me. Of course if they get around me at that one opportunity that I could have taken. That REALLY sets me off! I have the bad habit of having a potty mouth as it is. I'm trying to break that habit, but not having much luck. Anyway. One day this happened to me. Some woman decided she was in a hurry and she needed to get around me. Well, despite the fact that I'm a potty mouth, there are certain words that are just "taboo" especially for woman. I was so angry that I ended up shouting one of those words at her. I'll give you a hint, it starts with a "C". Unfortunately, my daughter was in the care with me. She thought it was funny and she loves to tease me about it once in a while.

You hit the nail on the head! It's those people who talk on their cell phones and don't pay attention to the road and then cut you off and don't even apologise. I hate cell phone mommies! Those rich mom's who drive big ol' custom SUV's and drive like total crap becuase they're constantly on their cell phones. Yeah, well you got my blood boiling with this discussion!

Yeah, I know what you mean. There are some crazy drivers out there. One of my biggest pet peeve about other drivers would be when someone speeds up next to me in the next lane and starts to drive at my speed. I think it is irritating. I don't like driving at the same speed as anyone that is right next to me in the next lane.

Probably the winner for me would be the cell phone. It also would be the person who cannot stand that I am driving conservatively, to save fuel, and feels they have to ride into my rear window, like if they get close enough they can push me down the road. Just because a speed limit says 65, does not make me wrong at 60, and certainly does not make them right at 75. With careful driving I get in the neighborhood of 40 MPG, and I need that, as I drive a little distance to work.

Whilst all those other things that every else has mentioned...speeding, cutting people off, mobile phones, hoons etc... is also a peeve of mine, they are also illegal! When it comes to pet peeves of drivers that aren't doing anything illegal, it would have to be....not giving the "courtesy wave". By this I mean; when you're driving and you let someone in in front of you or when merging and you let someone in. I believe they should give a little courtesy wave as a way to say thank you. I ALWAYS give a little wave if someone shows me some kindness and lets me in. I think it's rude of people to not give the "courtesy wave". After all you could have easily just left them there waiting for a gap in the traffic!

The main thing i have with drivers is this: I am a pedestrian. I cross the street at crosswalks when the lights are green. Some drivers who are turning right are only looking towards the on coming traffic and not my way. So they push their foot on the gas and go before they even check to see if I'm in the cross walk. I have almost been hit a few times by drivers who are not looking. Now I wait to make sure they get my attention before crossing even if I have to wait through a whole green light to get it. Drivers need to learn to look both ways when turning right and not just the one way.

You know those people who thinks they own the road? I hate those people... I was pulling out of parking lot & this lady just pulled out infront of me as if she was the only one driving in the parking lot... And there are others that speeds up along side of you on a 2 lane road, when the right lane turns in to "right turn only" lane, they look at you like you should let them in... Ones about them that bugs me the most are the ones that have lived in the area long enough that they should know better... Too much in hurry to go no where... People who forget to turn their blinker off, I've followed a guy for 1/2 hour with his left blinker on... People speeding right up to my bumper then act like I was on their way... I usually put on a break or slow down on purpose & as the road opens up a little, speed up again, then slow down again as they speed up to catch up...

Those things bother me too! But I think my biggest peeve are those who don't signal their intentions and you haven't a clue what they're doing. If everybody would just use their turn signals, as intended, life would be a lot easier on the roadway! Sometimes I wonder what the heck they're teaching in drivers ed anymore. Using the turn signals to signal your intention isn't just a courtesy to other drivers, it's a necessity to prevent accidents!

Oh I hate the ones that will race you to get pass so they can jump in front and then....TURN!!! UGGGGGGG that drives me up the flippin wall. Especially when there is no traffic behind me. I could just chew through metal when they do that stupid stuff to me. Now I can feel when this is coming, and I will not let them get in front or when they do, I jump in the lane next to me and pass them when they stop. That is like a victory when I do that and I just want to stick my tongue out at them while I go by, LOL.

This is the all time pet peeve for me. You're driving down the highway at the speed limit and you're on divided highway, suddenly someone who is in a big hurry passes you and even though it's divided highway with no chance of anything coming in your path they cut in front of you, then they go maybe three or four miles then turn off the highway anyway. GRRRRR Happens all the time.

Anyone going 10-15+ above the speed limit, and especially if they get an attitude over others trying to drive carefully (look yutz, its a residential area not a drag strip. if there was any real justice in driving you'd be out walking seeing why the speed limit is 25). And also, their me-me-me attitude. No regard for anyone else but themselves. Hence the speeding, cellphone use, nearly hitting crossing pedestrians(not jaywalkers) and other dumb stuff they do. And this whole flawed system is due to our mentality that we deserve to drive (like its the 11th commandment -_-) We also don't punish dumb drivers and DUIers hard enough. You are permitted to drive because you passed a test proving you were responsible enough to drive. I think more and more people forget this and our lax punishment of violators is reinforcing this.
