Several months back I wrote a post about my youngest son not loosing first tooth yet. Well today, almost two months after his 7th birthday he lost one of his front bottom teeth. Yippee! I'm thrilled (and so is he :))! My oldest son was 5 years old when he lost his first tooth, and I always figured this was the norm when it came to loosing the very first tooth. So how old was your child when they lost their first tooth?

My sons were six when they lost theirs. I told them to leave it under the pillow and the tooth fairy would leave them a penny. My husband tried to scare them by doing that talk about tying the tooth to the handle of the door and slamming it shut, but luckily we did not have to resort to that. Come to think of it, that was the same thing, my father told me. I was really terrified and then there were all these old black and white movies of some kid screaming his head off when they slammed the door and being in bandages around his head.

My father scared me with that talk when I was little. Luckily I never had to do that...all my baby teeth came out on their own. :) My husband better not try and scare our youngest with the door slamming thing. He'll be in the dog house if he does. :P LOL

My daughter (my youngest) just lost her first tooth 3 days ago! She had worked hard twisting and jiggling it around for 4 days to get it out and when she finally did it fell down the drain in the sink! never mind the tooth fairy still found it! This happened almost exactly a month after her 6th birthday and it too was the front bottom tooth - and her 2nd one looks set to come out any day now! xxxx

Yep she did sweety - just a few days after the first! It came out when she was in class and her teacher put it in an envelope and put a nice picture on the front and a note to the tooth fairy! How about your son - no 2 out yet? xxx

wow! You must be thrilled! My son started teething quite late...we noticed his first tooth on his first birthday! My son turned 7 around 10 days back and he lost his first tooth a week after his birthday!!! He's so excited! He's been waiting for it to fall since he was in kindergarten..lol All his friends lost their first tooth when they were around 5! My son has an explanation for it. He has a younger brother who is 9 months. He just started teething. God was waiting for his tooth to give it to his younger brother...lol

How come? Are you worried that if he starts loosing his baby teeth that he won't be your baby anymore?

My kitty has never lost a tooth. Thankfully. It'd be sad if he did I think. The more important question for you is... how much did the "tooth fairy" give him? My co-worker, gave her daughter... I mean...the toothfairy gave her daughter $10 when she lost her first tooth. I think I was jipped as a kid as I only got $1.

Wow, 10 dollars?!? I don't remember what I got for my first tooth, but I know it was not $10! :P LOL Sadly there was no tooth to put under the pillow. My husband saw the gap in our son's mouth, but the tooth was nowhere around. Our son will just have to wait until he looses another tooth before he gets money from the tooth fairy. :P

ha ha. I think all I ever got was $1 also. I thought it was crazy she gave her daughter $10 for the tooth! That sucks that your son didn't even get to experience the tooth fairy with his first tooth! I guess it saved you guys a dollar though :p

Yay! My 6 year old daughter has yet to lose a tooth. Her brothers and stepsister all lost their first teeth around the age of 5. She is very impatient about losing her first tooth. We check for loose ones about once a week! :)

My first child lost his at seven and a half. I do not remember about my daughter, probably about the same. I was a little concerned, too, but the dentist said it was normal. He cut them early, but they stayed in longer, go figure.

Both my kids cut theirs around the same time. You'd think that they'd lose their first tooth around the same time. Weird.

Oh my, my oldest is 32 and youngest 16. I guess I'm a horrid mother - I can't remember how old any of the 4 were when they lost their first teeth. I would have to dig baby books out of the boxes - I think I wrote in all of them when that happened.

That doesn't make you a horrid mother Faith! It just goes to show you that you've been too busy to think about such things. :)

My 17 month old daughter only has 5 teeth so i don't want to think of loosing a tooth yet... you must have taken good care of your sons teeth because 7 is an old age to loose a first tooth... well congratulations on your family's new milestone...

Hmmm, I guess. Though I don't think I did anything differently when it came to my oldest's teeth, yet he lost his first tooth at age 5.

ha ha... so you took on the role of the tooth fairy and paid him his dollar for his tooth? I can only imagine the feeling of growth you are seeing in your kids when little things like this happens. Now, I am witnessing my wife's nephews growing process, when they first got their long locks of hair, their first tooth, their first dollar from the tooth fairy... etc etc... heh heh... kids!

No, my son didn't get money for his tooth as there was no tooth to be found. :( My husband had spotted the hole in our son's mouth yesterday, but the tooth was nowhere to be found. So I guess my son will have to wait to loose another tooth before getting money from the tooth fairy.

So does he believe in the tooth fairy and what did she leave him for the tooth. We don't have that custom in India.

Yes my son believes in the tooth fairy. Unfortunately none of us know where his tooth went (my husband noticed the gap in our son's mouth this afternoon, but no tooth) so we'll have to wait until he looses another tooth before he gets money from the tooth fairy. :P

My son wasn't embarrassed about loosing his tooth, though he did wonder why my husband and I kept making a big deal out of it. LOL I think I was more excited over my 7 year old loosing his first tooth compared to my 10 year old because it took so much longer for him to loose it. :P
