Have You Noticed?

I have noticed that some people post discussions complaining /ranting about a particular subject. Especially about media coverage of celebrities who are caught either with drugs, DUIs, animal cruelty, etc. yet by their discussion they are perpetuating the very thing they are complaining about. Am I the only one to have noticed this? I can see where one would wish to discuss the actual deed that the celebrity is guilty/accused of but not just the coverage when the discussion is in effect also coverage of the topic.

"yet by their discussion they are perpetuating the very thing they are complaining about" yea but isnt that the case with ANY b!tchfest? I mean if someone natters about someone else nattering about something and everyone chimes in its the same thing...I dont think one CAN voice an opinion or natter about something without doing that no?

No you are not being cheeky because I am not perpetuating a news article. Now I will be cheeky... I am talking about the people who complain about a particular item being discussed over and over again but they are doing the same thing by bring it back up as a complaint. Do you see what I mean?

People just need a topic to write about. As far as I am concerned...if it's something I don't want to hear or read about...I just move on to what I like to do. Celebrities know they are public figures and everything they do will be scrutinized. Some do it for the publicity..and some some don't care. But it's of no interest to me what they do with their lives...so I just don't bother to go through it in the papers or the news. What you said is absolutely true...the people who post the discussions about undue publicity are giving more publicity to an irrelevant topic.

People forget that celebrities are also ordinary human beings with normal human weaknesses. Media wants to make news soit covers the celebrities. Nothing new ever happens in this world (except of course the atom bomb) Now every body is left with the question as to where to drop all the bombs. The earth is avery small place compared to the number of bombs ready to be dropped. Personally I wish some one starts dropping afew bombs then the media would stop all the non sense.

LOL, I have been caught by this as well. When I post something about other's whining for example, aren't I whining too? It's hard to get one's frustration out and not be a hypocrite at times. I have been lucky though, so far no one has called me out on it yet, but I know it anyway, so it bites all the same. Sometimes I don’t know which is worse, knowing it for myself or having some point it out to me.

LOL-- I agree with you. I just can't figure out who is so interested in these celebrities lives so much that the media feels the need to constantly talk about these people - I mean get a life- who cares who's going into rehab for the 30th time- I have more important things to worry about.

Lots of money - Piles of money
I think this happens because they are just looking for something to write about. They probably don't even care about the subject...it's helping them earn money and that's all that they are concerned with.

Yes I have noticed that and I still do not know why People complain and rant because they do not have to respond to the Discussion why not just go past and onto a Discussion that is more for them that is what I do Everyone has different Interests so go to the ones that interest them and that is the end of it I am starting to believe they only rant and complain because they have nothing else to talk about and of course it makes them Money Hugs

I have noticed that. I make it a habit to keep my mouth shut when I do not like something like that, for the most part. I would rather discuss the actual misdeed than to talk about how poorly it was adjudicated, or what the press did wrong. If I was such an expert, I would be doing the expert's job.

Dude. Did you read and understand my topic? I am NOT talking about discussing hot topics. I do that myself and enjoy it. I am talking about the people who COMPLAIN about a particular item being discussed over and over again but they are doing the same thing by bring it back up as a complaint. Do you see what I mean?

Well, I have noticed this for sure. Not only do these people perpetuate the discussion that they are complaining about, but making assumptions about the responses they get. Assumptions regarding the My Lotters who respond, that is. Then when someone objects to this,& clearly states how a discussion or debate should be conducted, they get all uptight. Funny that!!

Exactly. Thank you Jenny So many of the responses do not seem to have understood that it is not about discussing the actual topics but about the people that complain that the topic is discussed so often and then do the same thing by bringing it up again.

I agree with you. The complaining about it does no good for anyone. Discussing the issue might be able to help someone who actually looks at the discussion for the content. I think that complaining about what celebrities do is ridiculous because it does not change anything.

I did it once because I was so disgusted that the celebrity in question would get paid for jail time, and my son who spent 30 days in jail didn't even get the time of day. I have never been much of a celebrity follower and I vowed not to waste any more time with such things.
