The Big Trucks Outside My Window

United States
September 7, 2007 8:11am CST
Well it is officially my turn to have the big trucks to view as a part of the scenery today. I was greeted this morning by a good looking construction worker who told me that I would need to move my car. As I was in my nightgown, he graciously offered to move it for me. When he came back he handed me the keys and smiled. He then told me that he loves the Dixie Chicks too. The cd was left in the player last night and he was treated to a song as he parked the car. So, I guess my daughter won't be paying me a visit today. She can't get her car up to my house because of they are digging up the road. As she is disabled it would be hard for her to park furterr down the road and walk up in. I have to bring my car to the shop today. Thankfully, the cute construction worker didn't park too far away. But, I will have to sway my way past all of the burly guys this morning to get to my car. Even at this stage in my life I still feel at ease when I have to walk past a bunch of construction workers. Maybe I should turn the tables and give them a whistle.

Yup, why not flirt a little bit. I think I am getting a bit rusty at it though. Maybe with lots of practice....

It was very nice of him to move your car for you. I hope they will be done soon and you can get back to your normal schedule and not have to worry about being blocked in. The loud noise and the big trucks are always a pain. Bear with them, it sounds like you have some nice construction workers out there.

They were still here when I got home. It was a big inconvenience to lug my 2-year old grandson on my hip while carrying a heavy bag of groceries in the other. Not one of the guys offered to help with the bag.

LOL- wouldn’t that be funny- You walk past them- and whistle and say—Nice bum guys! Keep up the good work. : ) I bet they would be like- WOwsa! And you’d be the talk of the day! I see this is a bit older or a post- so I hope they are done now and out of your way! I know what a nuisance it can be to have construction on your way to work—can’t imagine it being right in front of my house!

They are actually still around my house. They have a pylon blocking a hole near my driveway.

Yes with all those good looking guys, they do deserve a complement. Don't worry construction season will soon be over and life will be much better.

The weather was so cooperative last year that they were still out and working well into December last year.

Well that only happens some of the time. Where I'm at it seems like the orange barrels and cones never go away.

Yes indeed, turn the tables on them! Sometimes other people need a good mind candy moment ;p Here's to getting your parking space back and here's to a speedy construction session. If it was the state construction where I'm at, they'd probably take months to finish. Yours truly nearly ended up in a ditch because someone forgot to put up cones, street plating, and even the "road construction ahead" sign wasn't present. I complained to the city and wrote to the state, but as always no one listened -_-.

The only time they really listen is when an accident happens.

Sounds like you still have some spunk. Go for it girl. I know it is just an inconvenience for awhile, so you might as well make it fun while it lasts. It was nice of him to park it for you, sounds like he was flirting a bit himself. LOL.

Its really nice that some of them can be helpful, sometimes they really just block you in for fun, that happened to me when they were building some houses next to me they put a skip infront of my driveway blocking me in, and it took some time for me to get them to move it to an empty space. some workers have no sense at all.

LOL I loved how you started this discussion "a good looking construction worker". LOL That is always a plus if you have to have a big truck there. :) I bet you did nothing all day except watch him. LOL

Hi mom. It was nice to see you at Dad's tonight. I'm really sorry I didn't get there today, but I did stop by (and saw the construction trucks and your car parked down the hill). I turned around, of course! I was coming to get my clarinet at that point, because I realized that I am pretty much broke at this point and need to make quick money on ebay (as quick as possible, anyway). So I'm selling the clarinet and designer handbags first! Thanks for the heads-up as to the spam policies on these sites! I don't want to be reprimanded, or have to deal with anything negative - cuz I love these sites!

You should have driven up in. That hunky construction worker said he would keep his eye out for you and make sure you were able to drive in.
