Ladies: What makes you feel empowered?

As women we all have those times in life where we feel super charged, super empowered, super strong and super sexy! I think empowerment is sexy, it makes us feel in charge and on top of the world, like we can hold our own and make no apologies for it either. So grrrlz what makes you feel empowered?
For me it's a lot of things, like certain songs (most things by sugababes... their vibe is sexy but more like the chasers vs. being the chased) or movies (Phat Girlz... very empowering cuz not only did the "big" girl get a super hot guy but she made a name for herself and made tons of $$$ and she went and claimed her guy) or certain magazines (Jane, Mademoiselle). Everytime I get paid for some work I've done online I feel empowered, it's nice to smile your pearly whites (chipped tooth and all) at the who people try and kick you while your down and show them that your spirit has got about as much brightness as the summer sun no matter how hard they try and crush that within you. It's kind of like an Orbit gum commercial, lol. For me what has been very empowering was realizing that I could still be whole without having to be the other half of some half-hearted, overly dry relationship. I got myself through a lot of ugliness in my life on my own without the help of the passing "other halves" and I realized that I'd rather be alone than in bad company and that it's totally okay to be happy on your own. Makes me thrilled and empowered to be a womyn!!

Good for you! *smiles* For me, I think it's only my belief. The belief in myself. I feel super good most of the time (except mood swing when my belief doesn't want to come out to live) because I believe in me! It might sound a little intangible but it really is. I remember one time when I was in uni, a friend came by and asked me, "how could you dress so nicely even in a white shirt?" And I was joking back, "why not?" *laughs*. I am not saying that I have the best body or whatever. But I think it's the confidence there which makes the difference! People don't believe in themselves don't have that charm! Feeling good and be confident in yourself is the best weapon in a woman! *laughs* Girl Power!

Belief in yourself is the key to being empowered I think and I totally agree with you that confidence is a great weapon that woman can have. Confidence is sexy, it's knowing who you are and that nobody can destory that. Oh and mood swings are what chocolate was created for so don't worry, lol.

Every time I learn something new, a new skill, or go somewhere on my own, out of town, away from home. Accepting various new challenges makes me feel empowered. Owning up to my own feelings and stating them, before I reach a melt down stage makes me feel empowered. I do not have to whine, cry or pout, just state the facts, say what I have to say, and get on with it. Isn't it great. I do not have to have another half to survive, I like being an equal partner, though.

Yes those are all very empowering moments to experience. I think being able to state your feelings without having to resort to crying or pouting is great and more women should learn to do that as well.
