This happened last night in the town where I live at. It is a sad day for alot of kids. They woke up this morning to find out that two of their friends have been killed in a car crash. My Boyfriend has two girls that were friends with the two 15 year olds that were in this crash this is the 3rd friend they have lost in the past 4 months now. Our prayers have gone out to their familys and friends. I just dont know or understand why the two 15 year olds were able to be out alone with a 17 year old boy and on top of it be out of the county that they lived in. The 17 yr.ols has no clue yet what has happend and my paryers are with him and his family because now his life is ruined and I am sure that the court system that we have now and days will try to charge him with the deaths of these people. I just dont think that I would let my daughter when she was 15 be out riding around with a 17 yr. old. I just want to share this with you all. this is the story from our home newspaper: Stockwell crash victims identified 3 killed, one survivives By DOROTHY SCHNEIDER STOCKWELL -- Two teenage girls and an elderly woman were killed Saturday when a car apparently ran a stop sign and struck another car at the intersection of County Road 700 East and Indiana 28 East. The two teens were passengers in the red Dodge Stratus, driven by a third teenager, that was traveling eastbound on 28 when, police believe, it struck a beige Ford Taurus, driven by Marilyn E. Gardner, 78, of Indianapolis, which was headed southbound on 700 East. Megan M. Hinds, 15, of Waynetown, and Jenna S. Smith, 15, hometown not given, died at the scene, according to Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Deputy Thad Miller. The driver of the car in which they were riding, Tyler Sutton, 17, of Crawfordsville, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center where he was listed late Saturday in serious but stable condition. Gardner was taken to Home Hospital where she died later Saturday from her injuries. "There's no traffic accident that is ever nice," Tippecanoe County Coroner Donna Avolt said. "This one was very bad." The Taurus is registered in Tippecanoe County and the Stratus is registered in Montgomery County, Avolt said. Both vehicles landed in the yard of a house on the southeast corner of the intersection, leaving muddy tracks in their wake. Broken plastic and other debris from the cars littered the road. A passerby called the sheriff's office to report the crash at 4:42 p.m. Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Deputy Thad Miller said Sutton was able to communicate briefly with officers. He said no one was ejected from their vehicle in the crash. Extrication equipment was used to remove at least one of the victims. Police used tape to mark off the yard where the vehicles were and also block eastbound traffic on County Road 700 East. Rain fluctuated between a drizzle and downpour through the evening as police and emergency personnel worked at the scene. The county's crash reconstruction team was called in to investigate. The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was also called, but Sheriff's Deputy Matt Budreau said, "There's no speculation there's alcohol involved at this point. It's just precautionary." Avolt will decide this morning whether autopsies will be conducted. State Police, West Lafayette Police, Lauramie Township EMS and Fire Department and the Clarks Hill Fire Department assisted at the site. It was not immediately released whether the drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts. The investigation is ongoing.

As sad as this story is, hoghoney, these events seem to be happening on a daily basis. I don't know what the answer is, but I think that it might help if the age at which these kids could drive legally would be raised. Let's face it, teens are not known for their good judgment. They are at an age where they think they are invincible and will live forever. My prayers go out to the families of these victims and I hope that the laws will someday be changed.

It is becoming more and more common, the shame is the kids all have access to cars at young ages now. I remember when I first started driving, I had to earn enough money to pay for my first care and pay the insurance! You can imagine it took a bit of time, now cars are just handed to them, and the kids have no sense of responsibility. I will pray for all concerned especially the parents of all three teens!

thank you both World and Kitty. It will be a long day when the kids go back to school tomarrow and have to deal with their friends gone, I had a friend in school once that got hit by a drunk driver going home from school and the school let us all have a few days out to deal with the lost, but alot of schools these days dont do that. Thank you for you prayers

Yes we always think that we would go before our kids do but sometimes god has other plans for them. My heart is with you and your daughter. The boy that was driving is now out of the hospital but he dont remember anything and still dont know about the girls that got killed yet. They are saying that he has alot of brain damage still and not sure if he will ever know or remember. Hugs!

How incredibly sad! That is so tragic- Reminds me of when I was younger and lost 2 friends and almost a 3rd in a car crash- But that was drunk driving- by the other vehicle- I don’t see anything wrong with letting 2 – 15 year olds ride in a car with a 17 yr old- I’m sure it happens all the time. I remember when I was 16- I drove friends around that were younger than me- I feel really bad for the families of these kids and elderly women!

How sad for all involved. I am sorry to hear about all the lives that are gone or damaged. I think the 17 year old needs to get some type of punishment but what I do not know. I hate to see him jailed for the rest of his life. I said a prayer for all

car crash - road safety is everyone's responsibility
This is very tragic. It seems car crashes usually involve teenagers. But road safety is everyone's responsibility. May we all be better drivers so that such accidents don't happen.

This is so tragic. I didnt pick up from this the cause of the accident. It says someone ran a stop sign but which one was it? If it was the 17 year olds fault he is going to have a lot to deal with. He's going to have to live with this for the rest of his life. And i agree with you if i had a daughter or even two for that matter they wouldnt be riding around with a 17 year old. If i knew he was a safe drive it might be different.

Again, more terrible news. And it goes straight to the heart adding even more weight. Its sad when things like this happen, it seems very preventable! We should take driving and safety more seriously instead of treating it like a born right. People should respect the road, the vehicle and all safety issues involved. I'm sorry for the losses and my heart goes out to you guys. I've seen too many loses to careless and selfish driving.

that is so sad and probably was a needless accident. a teen driver probably driving too fast and talking to the other teen and not paying proper attention to his driveing at all. so he plows into an elderly ladys car and kills her and his two passenges. It should and could havr been p revented had the parents reallyinstilled in the boy's mind the proper way to drive and what to watch out for.

Thanks for posting this. This is a story that all too often I see as I am an EMT as well as a firefighter. So many lives are lost senselessly in our county from stuff like running stop signs, not paying attention, and our big problem is atvs on highways and even dirt roads at high rates of speed. I will pray for these families and for the emergency personel that worked this accident because it takes a toll on them also. God Bless you all. I appreciate what ya'll do.
