Diabetes is caused by the pancreas not being able to produce enough insulin, or by the insulin not doing its job right, which is to regulate how sugar is used in our bodies. Drinking cola just makes the blood sugar level higher. Too much cola can cause people to gain weight from the sugar, and be jittery because of the caffeine. She should switch off with another drink sometimes, so her body can recover.

Soda has a lot of calories. It can lead to weight gain if you drink too much. Being over weight is a big risk factor for diabetes. Tell your friend to try Crystal Lite, it tastes really good and is sugar free, if she wants she can mix it with a little carbonated flavored water, to trick herself in to thinking she is drinking pop.

yes of course. drinking too much softdrinks can cause high blood sugar content for diabetes. yes drinking softdrinks is one cause for diabetes. tell your friends to minimize your friends sugar intake. try drinking sugar-free drinks. even drinks or softdrinks that claim to have sugar-free still have sugar. you should be worried about her. try checking her blood sugar and ask doctor's opinion about whether your friend should keep it down or still okay about your friends blood sugar levels. I have a normal blood sugar level. we have a nurse here at work that checks our sugar level once in two months.

Yes it might cause diabetes... It is hard for her to quit it unless you have to pick something that is really serious; I mean to scare her out of cola :). Before I love to drink those so much and eat a lot of sweet... Guess what, i gained a lot of weight and then I can't find any clothes to fit me right, so I decided to quit and change my eating habit. Now, Im just a regular person and I still can't eat that much sweet, it makes me sick :). you have to take a serious action on this one, otherwise your friend will end up with some bad problem :)

I'm quite sure it can cause diabetes. And in any case it's very bad for her teeth. However it's hard to influence our friends' eating/drinking habits if they won't want to change them themselves. What you could do, is sit her down and tell her you're worried about her. And find a substitute. Even if it's a glass of water ;)
