How much food do you have to eat before you feel full?

Most days I can't eat more than a few bites before I feel full. But, some times I get so hungry, it feels as if there isn't a big enough bowl in the house to hold all the food that I wish I could eat. It varies, depending on how much physical work I've been doing.
And, it depends on the type of food I'm eating. For instance, if I'm eating fruit then I'm likely to only eat one serving. Maybe that's because of the fiber content. But, if it's another kind of food like pasta, it's so much easier to eat an entire plate without concern for calories. It's just too easy to overeat that type of food. It never makes me feel full.
So, what type of foods do you eat when you want to feel full? How much food do you have to eat before you feel like you've had enough?

I typically eat much less than most people my age and size. For some reason, I tend to fill up easily, so usually for me it's just a few bites and then I am good to go. Usually, I can go for long periods of time without eating anything. However, like most people, sometimes I have days where I am more hungry than others. For me, that usually happens in a social setting. It's a lot more fun to share a meal with other people and I rarely get to do that, so I get bored of eating alone pretty fast... But when I am with friends, I am pretty "normal" in how much I eat, but still try not to eat too much.

I think for me it depends on the weather, and my stress level. Some days I can eat plates full of stuff and keep eating as long as I am awake. Other days I eat a big morning meal, smaller noon meal, smallest meal or just a snack at bed time. Dairy products help me feel full. Lowfat milk and yogurt. A filling snack for me is tortilla chips with salsa. I think the strong flavor makes me feel satisfied with very few calories. Eating sweet starch foods makes me hungriest of any foods. Sweet muffins, cookies, cakes, all make me eat like there is no tomorrow. Pudding is a sweet that makes me feel satisfied,It has the protein from the milk. A nurse once told me to eat a small protein snack at bed time for appetite control the next day and increased energy. She suggested a small spoon of peanut butter for example.

Usually I just eat a few bites of food at any given time. It works best for me to do it that way all day long. I eat every time my son does, but usually less than he does, even though he is just a toddler.
Sometimes I feel really hungry and eat more, though. It depends on what we have going on and how much I've been doing. Also, I tend to eat more when my husband is home. I don't think it's that I am hungrier. I think it's just that I watch my husband eat, so then I feel like I should be eating as well.
