A Gut Asking His Response to Be Rated BEST!!!

Hello! Recently a friend of mine on mylot told me that... A guy sent her a friend request and then a message saying that if she rates his responses to her discussions as best, he would rate her responses to his discussions as best in return. He said, "we can have this give and take relation on mylot and be benifitted". She didn't give any reply to his message and just visited his homepage to have a look. All of his discussions were weird and his responses to her discussions were one liners. So, she neither responded to his discussions nor rated his response as the best. She just ignored the message. Then, she got another message from him asking that why she has not rated his response the best and she replied back politely with a "no". After that she didn't get any message from him. I told her to complain about it to mylot, then she says that he is not sending messages anymore and anyway she uses mylot rarely these days so no problem. But still I think she should have informed mylot about this and the user's name so that he doesn't link up with someone else and do this which is wrong. What do you think abou this?

First thing is, by the guidelines, she should report him as an abuse. Use the !. She should have done that right away. She might have to use private messaging to myLot, if it does not have the ! option. I think she was right also, telling you. As far as I can tell, we get no real advantage from being marked as best response, other than it is like someone telling us we have done a good job.

I asked her to report about this, but she isn't interested. She didn't tell me the user's name also. I told her that its ok if she doesn't want to tell me who he is, but she can report this to mylot and it would be between her and mylot team only. But she is thinking in other way. She says that if he gets banned he'll know its she and he may open a new account and rate her all discussions with -. She is not ready to understand what am saying. So, now I have started this discussion to show the responses and let her decide what she wants to do.

That sounds like a good plan. A lot of people do not want to be bothered, I find. I am sorry she feels she has to be afraid of what he will do in any way.

Yeah, she should report it. I'm just shocked that people would do that. Why would they want to be marked best response? (apart from the good feeling you have from it though). Does a person who gets a best response earn more? Just curious. =)

It is against mylot's guidelines, do best thing to deal with it is to report that user. That is not how these features are made of, it is a form of abuse and if ever it occurs, that member is subjected for cancellation of his/her account after the admin finds it. Use the Exclamation point (!) to report that member, or you can message the admin along with the link to that member's profile for mylot to investigate it. These practices are intollerable, you did the right thing to conduct others on what to do with that member..

Tell your not to get afrad, because one's that abusive member is kicked off here , he'll have no other way of making it back here. I'd be glad if she'd let us know the name of that abuser, so we can all report him and help her solve her worries.

I hope she tells us the username after reading this discussion, so that all of use can rate him with "!" or report his username directly to mylot.

Doing something like that would not be fair to others. He must've wanted to get a higher rating or increase with earnings.I hope nobody would fall for that. Its so not kool.I know if he would have messaged me with something like I would probably deleted him because I know what type of person he is.

I am glad your friend refused to do this! She should have reported him for trying to put in a cheat system. Thats exactly what it is cheating with no real benefit! There is no benefit to being marked best except for the pat o the back (if deserved).

LOL! I think he thinks his earnings would increase a lot if he keeps getting the rating of best response. Thanks for responding!

hi indiavani, such type acts should not be responded at all. one can select the best response very honsetly. if every one try toplay like that, then no one will post good and honest response. one can just send a mail and ask for selection of best response that is totaly unfair to mylot and all other user.In my opinion we should not give response to such persons.

Completely unfair and I'm glad your friend didn't go through with it. The rest of us actually have to really try hard to barely earn things here on mylot! Look at me! I've done so much on mylot and I barely have the star rating to show for it. I have plenty of best responses, and even some where I made an exemplary response post-best response and what you described made me sick. Sorry to rant, but I do hope the person trying to scam gets what's coming to em!

In the first place one should not entertain such unethical practices and it is totally unfair to do. If I were to be in your shoes, I would have reported the matter to mylot. Everyone of us here I am sure is for fair play and favoritism, nepotism and corruption has no place in this place.

That's disguesting! Ratings are supposed to be on merits and quality and not should be based on favourtism. Such an act should be made known to the fellow members and admn in mylot. The reason why crimes or mistakes increase is because only a minority of people are willing to speakup or raise their voice on the issue.

I definitely would have declined the offer. I'm not sure that I would have reported it either. While it is definitly underhanded, i don't beleive that our ratings or earnings are affected by the star program. Also I am thinking that mylot would catch on if 2 people are constantly giving each other best response.

Hi indiavani, I agree with you and think it should have been reported. I spent more of my time on myLot then any other site as I really enjoy it here. I don't comment on all the discussions I read, because I don't have anything to add, but I still enjoy the discussions and response when I feel that I should. This sort of behaviour would ruin it for everyone. I put a lot of time into choosing best response. Blessings.

Sounds like some one's trying to work the system! HOw tacky of him, not to mention against the Terms of Use. I agree she should have reported him.
