I think to vote is not a right but a duty of every citizen. What will happen to a country if all the citizens do not vote? What will happen to the saying "vox populi, vox dei" the voice of the people is the voice of God, the essence of democracy. I think that is why they make it a criminal offense if you do not vote n Australia.

This is the first year I've registered to vote. I don't follow politics at all though. I was thinking that maybe I would this year but so far I haven't. I just find listening to debates boring. I would like to help change things though, so I'll try to find out who stands for what and vote.

well In Australia you have to vote or you will get a penalty so You have to show up on the day. Last time I was so pi%$%# off with everyone that I pit a huge X on my papers for the candidate and I voted for the party (we have 2 ballot papers) this was for local gov so who gives a rats behind anyway they are all idiots. The federal election is comming up (still dont know the date I supose they will tell us a week before the election) well I am voting for that one as I am sick and tired of this idiot of a pm that we have now.
