Do you like birthday parties?

I tried to see if there was already a discussion for this, I didn't really see one, so I wanted to ask if anyone here likes birthday parties. I'd like to know if you like them for yourselves, if someone throws one for you, or do you plan your own? Do you like to go to birthday parties? My birthday is coming up, next Friday (Sept 28) and I absolutely hate birthday parties for myself! I especially don't like people singing the birthday song to me. This year I'm having my daughter and her boyfriend come over and cook dinner for me, probably lasagna, and we will have the rest of my children here and a close friend, that's enough of a party for me. I don't particularly like to go to birthday Parties either, it just feels a little strange to me, I don't know why, that's just the way it is. I do however like to plan parties for my children though. So, what about you, do you like birthday parties for yourself?

I had the best party ever for my 21st in February. It was a surprise so i spent the day on my own feeling sorry for myself because everyone was 'busy'. Then my friend came around and we had some champagne and then she said we were going for a drink. She took me to the bar that i used to work at and there were all my family and friends! It was absolutely fantastic, my dj friend played all my favourite songs and i had a cake with black stilettos on because i'm a shoe fanatic! Its something i'll remember forever!

I used to love throwing parties for my daughter as a child, but as she has grown up, the process has become much more tedious and less pleasurable. The expense increases with each year it seems! I myself, really don't care for having birthday parties. Just a few family members over for cake and ice cream is about all we do anymore.

It depends. I like hosting birthday parties for my daughter, whom is now 14 yerars. For myself, I am not so keen. Partly because my birthday is usually on the hottest day of the year, which is a bit limiting in Australia. It is going to be my 50th next year, & I can't make up my mind what top dp regarding a party? It might be easier to not have one at all, except to go out with my husband & my daughter.
