Bargain Hunting September 21st

The day started out on the gloomier side today. The sky was overcast and it was a bit dreary. So what better way to beat of the gloom than to shop! As I am a bargain hunter I start out at one end of a store and check out everything in between, grabbing what good buys there are to be had.
Well, at Kmart, I found a decent looking top for $5.99. I thought it was too good to be true, but the sign did say $5.99. I picked out a blue top that had little dark blue flowers on it and tossed it into the cart. I meandered through the shoe aisle in hopes to find a decent pair of sneakers for myself and a pair of shoes for my hubby. Nothing there.
Off too the rest of the store. At the end of my journey was the Halloween stuff. Right next to it stood a display of Christmas Trees! What the heck! Isn't it enough that they put the decorations and other trinkets out? I ran for the checkout. Luck was on my side when I pulled into a checkout that had only one person in front of me who only had a few items.
My turn came and the top rang up at $8.99. I told the cashier that the sign said $5.99. "Price Check Womens Clothing!" The clerk came over and said it was a percentage off sale and that the top was probably put there by mistake. I stood my ground and said that the button up tops were a percentage off not the one I chose. She tossed her hands up in the air and said, I'm not going to argue over this, give it to her for $5.99. I guess someone was having a bad day. Not me!
Now off to Payless to check out the sneakers. Oh yea, a pair of sneakers for $6 and they were comfortable too! I bought hubby a pair of crocs because his hikers were causing his heels to blister. His cost $19.99, not a bargain, but if they will be comfortable for him it is worth the money.
Walmart was next. I found a vaccuum that I wanted to buy for $44.95. It is a Bissel bagless vac. Many of my clients have this vaccuum and it really works well. My old one will go to my son and his wife.
Aldi was the last stop. I only needed 3 items, but knew if I took a cart that would soon multiply into a cartful. So, I brought a bag in with me and filled it with what I thought I needed. I found cookies buy one get one free. Since the grandkids are going to be over tomorrow, I bought them a treat. Bananas were .37 cents a lb. Grabbed some cd's so I can record some of my cd's to bring in the car with me (don't want to ruin the good ones), that cost me $4.99 for a 25 pack.
After I put the vaccuum together and give the floors a good going over, I am off to spend the afternoon laying in the sun in my lazy chair. The construction is still going on so it will be noisy, but still, relaxing day.

That is how I would do my shopping for the kids clothes. They always had new clothes and I paid a fraction of the original cost when they went on clearance.

Sneakers for 6.00 that is a great buy. think I will check out payless this weekend. My bargain shopping days usually include Goodwill and Salvation Army. Oh yeah and any good yard sales I can find.

I rarely, if ever find shoes that are comfortable enough for me to wear from Payless. I was pleasantly surprised.

Sounds like you've been quite busy old friend. I love bargin shopping. I don't get to do enough of it anymore since I don't drive. I have the Bissel vacuum you refer to and I love it. I got it about 8 months ago, and it works so well on my floors. It picks up all the dog hair and everything. I sure don't miss those bags.
I know what you mean about the Christmas stuff. Hubby and I went to Walmart the other night and there was more Christmas stuff out than there was for Halloween. It's way to early to go down that road. Enjoy relaxing in the sun. I have lots of editing to do today, so I am stuck inside, here at the computer.

I emptied the container 4 times into a small trash bag so I could show my hubby what our old one left behind. He is sold on the new one!

I NEED that vac! It would probably do a better job on the cat hair than the one I had. I also forgot to mention about the Christmas stuff already...that's a bunch of sh*t if you ask me, it's not even October! Bathing suits will be on sale before Thanksgiving at this rate...LOL

Sounds like a really good day for you. If I had been in that situation with the top they never would have given it to me, so I am glad for you. I cannot wear bargain sneakers for any lenghth of time, so I go for Famous Footwear, a certain style of Reebok and a certain style of Avia. I wear them forever, though, and they really last. I have not bought crocs. I think I will go look around at the vacuums at Walmart. You got some pretty good deals.

I still plan on buying a good pair of sneakers. I couldn't pass up the $6 bargain though. The vac did an exceptional job! I couldn't believe what was left behind by my old vac. Hubby didn't complain when I showed him the bag of dirt.

Ha! Win win and oh yeah, WIN! Wow what a wonderful day. I have yet had that much luck at all four of those stores at once, my best is 2 out of 4. :o(

I would like to go to the stores that are near the mall to see what they have. I love shopping at Big Lots and often can find some great buys.

I love bargains like this. I really haven't been shopping for bargains, or anything for quite awhile. Oh, except last Sunday. I bought some quite nice things for $14.00.
My daughter needs summer school shoes & I have seen them for $35.00.
I need a lightweight jumper, so Monday will be the day I go bargain shopping.

I try to hit the Goodwill Store when looking for clothes for my grandkids. There have been times when I find clothes with the labels still on them and I pay a fraction of the original price.

Sounds like you had a successful shopping day! That really sounds like a good price for the Bissel bagless vac. You're the smart one not taking a cart into Aldi's. If I take one I usually do end up filling it up even if I only planned on getting 2 or 3 items. I always get my bananas at either Aldi's or Save-A-Lot, they're always at least .10 a pound cheaper than Giant.

I see you had quite a productive day, Elusive! I'm glad you got all of your shopping out of the way and found some time to relax. It's a truly good feeling to know that you have accomplished what you set out to do-and get a treat into the bargain.(:

I sat outside for only a short time today. The construction was too loud for me to concentrate on the book I was trying to read. So, I sat inside in my favorite rocking chair.
