I was surprised, but not really, to see Drew doing the Samantha job last night on the DWTS premiere. I think he did a good job. I cracked up when he said that Len had missed his nap and his Geritol. I have suspected ever since I heard about Samantha's pending maternity leave that whoever took over for her temporarily just might get the job full time. She is so.... not good. She seems sweet and all, but I hope that baby Josslyn (sp?) gets her dad's brains! I don't know if Drew would take over permanently, but I enjoyed him last night. What do you guys think?

She never has been that good, although she was better than the lady named Lisa who did it the first season. She tries, but sometimes comes across as either clueless, or rude. Some of the questions she asks the dancers make me cringe! Drew did OK. He didn't have a lot of notice although he must have been preparing. She wasn't supposed to go into labor for another couple weeks I don't think.

I only remember the first season girl vaguely, but I didn't mind her the way so many seemed to. She was okay. Samantha is an airhead to me, but at least she seems to mean well. I guess... As I type this she is already back and she's really kind of embarrassing at times, but she does seem to have her heart in the right place.

I think Drew does a pretty good job, and I like it when he takes a jab at the judges, finally it's his turn, and he doesn't have to worry about being voted off, lol. I was surprised that it wasn't a woman taking Samantha's place, it just seems more natural to me that a woman have that position, but that's ok, he's doing a fine job, for now.

Before last night I never thought of a replacement for Samantha. I liked her. But as I was watching last night I was surprised they didn't pick a woman to fill that spot. It just seems natural to have a guy/woman host team. And my first thought was Lisa Rhinna as she has been covering the show for ET, but I guess she has her hands full with other projects. Drew was okay, was quick witht he one-liners but just seemed to be a little bit out of his element. But like someone said, he probably didn't have much time to prepare.

I was plesently surprised to see Drew as co-host. I had saw an interview with Samantha on tv. She had stated that she planned on doing the show until she went into labor. She also made the comment that she could very well go into labor in the middle of the show. So I was kind of expecting to see her on Monday night. But it is nice to know that she had her baby and that she will return to the show. I know many did not like her quirky antics, but I loved her. Drew I think is making a fine replacement for now, but I don't see him replacing Samantha completely.

Samantha was a little nutty. She would kind of drone on and say nothing a lot. I really loved Drew when he was on the show and like him now. I was surprised that they didn't pick a woman but I think Drew is very popular and a good choice. I am sure Samantha will return. Possibly before the end of the show. I had heard that her pregnancy and childbirth would not interfere with the show so she may be back in a few weeks for all we know.
I like Drew just fine.
As for the contestants, well...I am not a fan of ANY of them at this moment. Yikes, what a crew.

Just found this interview about Drew:
He already knows the ins and outs of the ballroom, after all.
After helping Tom Bergeron kick off season five Monday night, season-two champ Drew Lachey will continue to fill in for Dancing with the Stars cohost Samantha Harris for the extent of her maternity leave, E! News has confirmed.
Harris gave birth to daughter Josselyn Sydney Hess early Sunday morning in Los Angeles, the first child for her and husband Michael.
So, about a day and a half before showtime, Lachey got the call and promptly stepped into Harris' shoes (albeit not her usual heels), conducting backstage interviews and urging viewers to vote for their favorite contestants.
While Lachey didn't miss a beat, being on the other side of the microphone did make him long for his dancing days—for about a minute.
"Then I remember how my back hurt and my knees hurt by the time it was over, and I’m happy with my new job," the former boy bander told People backstage. "I’m all dressed up [with] somewhere to go for once."
