I was pleasanty surprised. I have young kids so the birthday thing is always fun for them. They like birthdays-- ANYONE'S birthday. I woke up to flowers and cards and gifts. The a few of my friends brought me gifts (very unexpected- we never exchange!). Then my moms sent me a very cute email with pictures of me when I was a baby. A few e-cards from my sisters. Dinner out with my family at a very delicious new Irish restaurant. Lemon cake with raspberries for dessert (yum!). Then a friend who I haven't talked to in months called me out of the blue. All in all a very good day. And I woke up this morning HATING and DREADING that I was turning 43. I think the first birthday I hated was when I turned 39- because all I kept thinking was that the next birthday would be painful. So- do you still like celebrating brithdays? If not, when did you stop enjoying them?

Yes- I still celebrate my birthday also- I think it is only because of my daughter- Like you said- kids are more excited than we are for our own birthdays- My daughter always brings me breakfast in bed-- and she gets so excited-- open your gifts-- lol she always makes something too- She is 11 now- and it still happens. Plus there is dinner out- and a celebration at work too- and then my parents still take us to dinner for each birthday! Happy birthday to you yesterday!

Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had a fabulous time! I still celebrate every birthday too. My worst was when I was 35. I was pregnant, and feeling very old. All I could think of was 1/2 of my life is over. Now I am 43 and love my birthdays! I don't know what I was thinking back when I turned 35, but I plan on living way past 70!
