I just posted a little while ago about these stupid wierd bugs in my house that bite (http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1289339.aspx), well I googled it and they're gnats! Ok so does anyone know how to get rid of them? Are they're bites bad? Do they bite animals, my cat is an inside cat so she doesn't have a flea and bug collar.

First of all a question--do you have any kind of houseplants??? This seems to be the culprit of why one has these annoying buggers.. I came across this website about how to get rid of gnats naturally without chemicals if you have houseplants.
http://www.ehow.com/how_3885_rid-indoor-gnats.html
even has a video
And here's another excellent website that includes this info
* Track Them and Kill Them. If you’ve got a swarm, you need to eliminate the source. It seems gnats are attracted to vinegar. Fill a jar almost to the top with vinegar, poke several small holes in the lid and then set it out. The gnats will come to the jar, wiggle down into the hole, and will not be able to climb back out. Set several of these traps around your home and monitor them to determine where the highest concentration is and use that information to find the source. Understand that the gnats that pester you in your home require moist or wet organic material in which to breed – it could be anything from a grimy drain to the drip pan under your refrigerator. Check your door and window seals also – they could be breeding right outside and wandering in.
There are other home remedies that have met with success, but most of them use vinegar, and work pretty much like the vinegar trap above. Mixing a half cup of vinegar and a tablespoon of Dawn dish detergent attracts the gnats. They will feed on the mixture and die. Apple cider vinegar and baking soda works also. Be careful with this one. Vinegar and baking soda react and foam up, so make your mixture slowly. A cup of ammonia poured down the kitchen sink can also encourage the little pests to go elsewhere.
Here's that website

I have tons of them too! I will be checking your discussion often for answers myself! I can't seem to get rid of them for anything. I don't think that they bite animals, and I haven't had any problems with them biting me or my daughter. Good luck honey!

a little bowl of water with a small amount of dish soap will usually draw them to it,and they drown.
kills fleas too,if you ever get them, same reason.
i've put out these water traps and none of my cats have ever messed with them.

Thanks for that tip, I'm going to try that outside where the biting gnats seem to live.

My sis just had the same problem... she found the source in a bag of birdseed she bought! She got rid of that, and some veg they were attracted to, and plugged in her bug zapper light... they were mostly gone in just a few hours.
