After having shaved my face for an awful long time, I won't say how long, I have FINALLY DISCOVERED how to shave without cutting myself, even with a new razor. My usual method used to involve washing my face and leaving it wet, then apply shaving cream, then shave. Invariably, I would end up looking like a Red Cross Practice Dummy. My new method is to wash my face, leave it wet, APPLY ALOE VERA GEL, then apply SHAVING GEL, work it up into a rich foamy mass, and then shave it all off. After doing all that, then I rinse everything that is left off and dry with a towel. What do you think of this method?

Seems that should keep your face nice and smooth. I like to use aloe vera gel on my hair to help control it, without the nasty build up I get from some other products. It produces a nice light hold. I am sure there are lots of uses besides first aid for sunburns.

Thank you for the hint about using aloe vera gel. Now if I can just let my hair grow long...Naaaah, not gonna happen. I could get a sunburn, however. Does anyone else have any unusual uses for aloe vera gel? Share, please.

Any method that stops the fatal 'cutting the neck and face to ribbons' process is a blessing! I used to suffer with the same problems and was always ending up with a cut face, then I decided if I shaved at night it was easier and I got less cuts. But now I don't get any cuts because I shave in the shower! I shower first, then I switch the shower off, then I add the shaving gel then I shave, then I will turn the shower on again! It works for me and my neck and face are blood free. Thanks for sharing your method.
