Inconsiderate people and the water shortage. What would you do?

I do not know if I would have the guts to say anything. I do know that there are some wonderful car cleaning products that do not require water, and are much kinder environmentally. My husband sells them. Why the washing of the driveway, though? I understand about wanting to keep the car nice, but the driveway? If it has oil, they should absorb it with kitty litter and sweep it up.

You need to be careful because you have to live with these peopl. If they can be so blatantly selfish in disregarding the problems you are having. it would probably not be a good idea to get on the wrong side of them. Howver I would ring your local authority anonymously and express your concerns. Watering a driveway everyday isn't necessary. This sort of ativity would drive me mad....I'd want to give them a hiding and cut off their water completly.

Being the non-confrontational person that I am, I would probably get a picture of the offenders and then send it in to the proper authorities. I just think it shows a lack of class, and extreme selfishness, for them to do things like wash their car and driveway knowing that a water shortage may be imminent.

i understand your predicament, crazynurse. at times like this, everyone must use his good judgment on conserving the use of water as it has become such a precious commodity already. maybe, the best that you can do will be to talk to these neighbors of yours and just indulge in a casual talk at a time when you find them be in a good mood to get talking hours off. then you can embark on how much using a pail and some cloth to wipe the car while doing some vehicle cleaning, can cut on the amount of water to be used in doing so. you can very well narrate that it is the way that you get into the habit of cleaning your car. this is so because of the problem involving water shortage.
