I do enjoy cooking especially when people enjoy eating it. But no matter how much I love eating it I just cant eat alot of it because when Ive been cooking in the kitchen most of the day I dont find myself hungry for it anymore. Would like to share with me?

be happy about it TerryZ, as many of us would be happy to lose apetite or part of it due to cooking :) I might be wrong of course, but most of people that do cook eat less than the others and I think it's natural due to the aromas you are taking in while busy and doing it. TheFortunes

Aaaah, now I get it...LOL, so you are of the tasting kind, and not of the once that cannot eat due to the aromas only :) TheFortunes

Hello TerryZ....... I've been a chef over 30 years and I and most people I've worked with have had the same experience. The reason is simple.....your sense of smell tricks your brain into thinking that you have already eaten. To reduce this affect all you need to do is remove yourself from the kitchen for about 10 minutes once or twice just before it's time to eat. Stepping outside in the fresh air refreshes/cleans your olfactory glans. I almost never have any problem eating as much as I want. Tom

That really explains a lot, because when I start out, I think I'm going to be starving by the time it's through, and when it's through, I eat very little. Thanks for the tip.

I am the same way but I also like to munch when I cook, like if I am makeing a salad the veggies that I cut up I will eat some of those, or if I am making soup before it's done I will take a small bowl to test it to make sure it taste okay

I'm like that too, especially when I'm cooking a real whoop-de-do of a meal like a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner..but then I tend to nibble what I'm cooking as I'm cooking, so by the time everything is really I'm no longer that hungry..hey the food has to be tasted to make sure it's all right, right? LOL

Most people say that too. Cooks have less appetite to eat their own creation after being in the kitchen and facing foods all the time. However, there is also a saying called, "never trust a skinny cook." So eat your own creation my friend. So that people will trust your creation more.

Cooking and the aroma of food doesnt need to concentrate in you head if you are to eat it well, if it does, food loses taste and I have live all my life seeing people who do the cooking eat with least appetite if at all! http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=105067

I think a lot of people feel that way. I tend to eat more if someone else has cooked. When I go to my mums for dinner, she doesn't eat much either. Maybe there is some scientific thing which stops you being so hungry when you prepare your own food!

it is same for me most of the time. When i cook for others, i don't find that appetite. But when i cook something of my liking, i still have the apetite.

I think that happens to most of us. That is why I love to go out to eat, because once I taste the food, it does not seem so delicious for me. I also think it is because we know what goes into it, and are always tasting to see if it is just right. So in reality we have already eaten and when supper comes, we do not need anymore or only a little.

Hi Terry, I sometimes have that problem too. After I have cooked a meal I don't really have an apetite for it anymore. I think it could have to do with being in a hot kitchen, not too sure! Love & Hugzz, Your Friend, PurpleTeddyBear!

Oh yes, that happens to me too, in fact the delicious smell of what i cooked doesn't appeal to me at all, once i am done with cooking. whenever i have a party at my place i usually eat leftovers the other day, am not able to eat much at all after cooking so much.

I feel the same way especially about the first sentence. I do feel sometimes that when I cook for others, I don't have as much of an appetite. Its not all the time, but it has happened in the past.
