Job is better or a personal small business?

Personally, I would rather have the responsibility of having my own business. Although I work very well WITH others, I have a bit of trouble working FOR them. I like the fact that the money I make is up to how hard I work, rather than how much someone else thinks I'm worth, which isn't usually anywhere near what I feel that I'm worth.

Depends on what you want. I work on a series of PR projects as a self-employed person. On one project I can make as much as people working in established agencies working on five or six projects. HOwever, I don't get a monthly salary or benefits and when I don't get work, I don't have any money and finances become awkward and that is very stressful. So, I guess the answer really depends on whether you can live with the uncertanity of not getting a monthly pay cheque.

In my opinion, 'Personal Small Business' is better than job because by business, one makes a living. And by job, one manager living. Real talent is only utilised in business than job. Income is also unlimited in business and not fixed as job. Also time freedom is more in business than jobs. Thanks for this discussion.

It definitely is a personal choice when deciding whether a job or personal small business is better. I recently read an article in Money magazine about the risk and rewards of owning a small business vs. being employee. They found it is better to own a small business if you can stay focused, disciplined and handle the uncertainties because could earn more money being the boss than working for someone else.
