Favorite Book of the Bible

My favorite book of the bible, varies with the kind of mood I'm in. If I'm really down in the dumps, I like to read Job. It seems to remind me that my problems aren't nearly so bad, if I put them in God's hands and trust Him as Job did. I love the promises in the book of Romans. That God will always be with me and watch out for me. I love the Psalms that David wrote. They are encouraging to my heart, and filled with love that the Father has for me. I love the heroes of the Old Testament, and never tire of reading about how they stood up for their faith...Noah, Jonah, Moses, Joseph, and of course, once again...David. What is your favorite book or story?

in this age of terrorism and war I love revelation because it tells me no matter how bad it might get (and it will get worse) God will win in the end !

This is certainly true. God will win at the end. I try to read Revelation, but still find it confusing and hard to understand. A friend that I work with at school tells me he has a book that will explain it better, that most people try to read too much into the symbolism instead of just reading it at it's face value.

Mine change according my mood, too, or according to what's happening in my life. Philippians is a favorite of mine, as are the Psalms. But I like Romans, too. And Hebrews is filled with thought provoking passages. Then there's Isaiah. And Jeremiah. :)

God is astounding, so it's no wonder that His Word is, too! I hope neither of us ever get over it. :)

I certainly don't want to ever get over it. I just want to be able to keep digging deeper into his word and learning more and more. I got a book and a study guide for my birthday called Believing God from Beth Moore. i haven't had time to really get started on it, but I haven't had time to start it yet.

You sound like me. Sometimes I just pick up my bible and ask God to teach me something that I need to learn. Then, I open it and begin to read. I'm always astounded at what happens then. you'd think I could figure it out by now huh?

I find that my favorite book in the Bible changes depending on my circumstances at the time I am reading it. Lately I have had an obsession with the book of Revelation and Issiah. I am pondering the signs of the last days. I can see them occuring all around us. I believe that if we are prepared, we will not be as much afraid. I am trying to be prepared as I dont enjoy being scared.

How was your Christmas? I haven't heard much from you lately. I hope that everything is ok. I haven't been on here or gather either one much for the few weeks prior to Christmas. There was just so much going on both at home and here at school. Lauren's Senior year is turning out to be much busier than I'd hoped. It seems the time is just flying by.

I love reading Isaiah and the other prophets, especailly at this time of year. To think that they spoke of the christ child being born so many years before the event actually happened is just phenominal in my opinion.

I like the book of Romans the best, and I also like some of the Psalms, 23, and 119 and the one where the psalmist envied the wicked and came to his senses at the end. I also like all the gospels. I am not into long descriptions of what products they used to make the temple or how far away it was, or what contractor they used. I am more interested in seeing how the Old Testament led up to Christ appearing here on earth and when will Christ return in HIS glory.

I love to read a psalm when I'm feeling low. It seems to lift my spirits up so much! We talked about Psalms in worship last night. That it seemed so interesting that God would put a verse in the very middle of the bible that said to put our confidence in him...and not man. Don't you think that's just the most interesting thing? That what would seem like the most important scripture to remember would be the "cornerstone" almost of the bible?

I can't say that I have a favorite book of the bible. To narrow the bible down to just one book would be hard. I enjoy everything in the bible because it is the word of god and no man can change that

this is true. i have many favorite passages in the bible and i like different books for different reasons. I was just curious what everyone else's opinions were. Do you ever read Solomon? Many don't want to read it because they say it doesn't make sense to them. I think it's such a book of poetry and love that it is hard to stay out of it.

I too like Genesis. I have a Children's Bible that I use to teach the young ones on Wednesday nights at Church. It is written on the level that a 10-12 year old can really understand. It makes the stories of Noah and Moses come to life! I really love the story of Jonah in this version as well. It's not in story form, it's just worded, and translated in such easy to understand language, but still biblically sound, with nothing added or taken away.

I absolutely love the book of Romans. I could read that one over and over again. I also love Ephesians and Phillipians too though. It is just too hard to choose only one favorite book in the bible! I will say my favorite passage is Psalm 139 becuase it lets us know that we are never beyond God's reach.

I will even give you a chapter. Romans 8. I love the verses throughout, especially the last ones, they really inspire me, and reassure me. Next to that I would say I really like Romans 12. Proverbs are good for me because I find the advice really pertinent. Better to eat soup with someone you love than steak with someone you hate. ( a teen version I read in high school). Good thoughts for the day.

I love that! Better be careful, or I'm just liable to use it for a devotion. The joke in my family is that you have to watch what you say and do around Mom or you will end up the object of a devotion. I had to go look up Romans 12!

My favorite books of the Bible are Psalms and I Corinthians. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in, I can ALWAYS find something to correspond when I look into Psalms. It's the best kind of poetry ever I think. : )

I am sorry for waiting so long to respond. I haven't had nearly as much time as i wanted lately to get on here. Work is just crazy lately. I've spent much time in I and II Samuel because I need some reassuring that God still loves me u ndconditionally. What better way to do that than to read the story of David.
